Eat Like a Local at The Local House Miami

Eat Like a Local at The Local House Miami

Whether you’re a local or seasonal visitor, The Local House in South Beach is the kind of restaurant that makes you want to stick around, kick back, and indulge. With the pleasure of dining in honor of National Lobster Day, I was reminded of how this gorgeous restaurant is simply one-of-a-kind. With a more private and bookcase-lined living room vibe, guests are welcomed to a few tables along with a beautiful eight-seat lazy-dog-lanterned bar. The multi-functional dining room is also available on casual couches and communal plank tables for hotel residents and diners alike to enjoy the space. The Local House’s menu is mainly Mediterranean-inspired featuring fresh Seafood dishes including oysters and mussels balanced by favorites like the Beachside Burger. Known for their amazing Sunday brunch with $16 Bottomless Mimosas, it was time to bring new light to everything their divine dinner selection has to offer too.

The Local House Favorites

If you haven’t already tried The Local House’s Sunday brunch, you would expect dishes like the Seafood Scramble made with gulf shrimp, blue crab, and lobster topped with herbs and tobiko, or the Buttery Lobster Benedict consisting of butter poached Lobster finished with old bay spice and lemon zest, served with seasoned home fries. It’s truly a seafood brunch like no other. Now, coming in for dinner, the expectations were high but they were most certainly met. My favorite few dishes included the Seared Crab Cake and Crispy Shimp appetizers along with the Lobster Mac & Cheese and Seafood Pasta Entrees. Keep reading to dive deep into the flavors.

Free to Be Shellfish

The dinner menu at The Local house offers such a delicious choice of appetizers and small plates, it makes it impossible not to order too much. With Oysters, Gulf Shimp Cocktail, Cheesy Croquettes, and Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs in their small plates section, continue to enjoy sharing plates that include their Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Crispy Shrimp with sweet chili sauce, Heirloom Beet with goat cheese and espresso vinaigrette, and the Seared Crab Cake with preserved citrus and basil cream. This was the best Crab Cake I’ve had in Miami hands down. The light and airy basil cream complimented the perfectly pan-seared crab as the best sharing starter for a dinner to remember.

Lobster, Cheese, and Everything in Between

Being that June 15th was National Lobster day, the Lobster entrees were a must. Alongside some mouth-watering dishes like Steamed Mussels with white wine, garlic, coconut milk, and fries, The 6oz Petite Filet with whipped potatoes and roasted beach mushrooms, and Beachside Burger with tomato jam, onion aioli, and avocado to name a few, we very difficultly finally made our very happy decision for the Lobster Mac & Cheese and Seafood Pasta.

The Lobster Mac and Cheese was probably the most creamy cheese-based pasta I’ve ever tasted, made with black pasta, melted smoked gouda cream, crumbs, and truffle oil. This one’s definitely for all our cheese lovers and the best part about it; it actually comes with huge chunks of lobster. Not just bits of lobster taken over by a mountain of pasta like most places do and the quality of ingredients in this dish is evident from the first bite.

Next up, the Seafood Pasta was made with shrimp, mussels, and lobster in a lighter and delicious tomato and cream sauce topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese. The linguine was perfectly proportioned with the shellfish giving you every single flavor with every single bite. I could see myself eating this one very often and the general atmosphere and service presented by The Local House’s staff were exceptional. Peeping through the dining room, I can’t wait to come back again with my girls for bottomless mimosas, or on a cozy nightcap on their couches for some of those delicious cocktails like the Let the Good Times Be-GIN with Gin, Cucumber, Basil, Lime, Orange Juice, and Tonic – some of my absolute favorite combos. Everything was delectable from the welcoming down to our Frozen Key Lime Dessert. Highly recommend coming here for your next foodie adventure.
