Celebrity Chef Adrianne Calvo’s New Concepts at Yumbrella Food Hall

Celebrity Chef Adrianne Calvo’s New Concepts at Yumbrella Food Hall

The Shops at Sunset Place, has been one of South Miami’s premier open air dining, shopping and entertainment destination for many years. As if there weren’t already plenty of options, Yumbrella Food Hall‘s opening is truly the cherry on top. There’s now more than eight food halls across Miami-Dade, but Yumbrella is the first food hall to open in the city of South Miami, with its communal dining concept continuing to expand. Though that usually means dealing with lines, or fighting for a table if you’re with a big group, this one provides full-service so you can comfortably enjoy all the yumminess under one umbrella. With seven restaurant concepts serving a unique fusion from American classic fare, to Asian cuisine and Latin American dishes, pared up with craft cocktails, and baked desserts and craft ice creams for a sweet ending to the meal.

Cracked

With Award-winning celebrity Chef Adrianne Calvo being responsible for four of those concepts, be prepared for a “maximum-flavor” experience. Celebrating the success of Cracked, which opened in 2018 at The Wharf, she opened a second location to delight South Miami with her take on classic American plates. The Truffled Pepperoni Pizza Cheese Fries makes the most indulgent cheat meal. But being one of the few places that’s actually made me excited about veggies, it’s also an excellent choice for health-conscious foodies.

Cracked – Elote Off The Cob

The Roasted Cauliflower ( Chipotle Aioli, Pico De Gallo, Avocado Creme, Pickled Red Onions ) and Roasted Brussel Sprouts ( Asian Pear, Truffled Soy Vinaigrette) were an unexpected overload to my tastebuds. Packed with flavors that highlighted and balanced each ingredient perfectly. But the one to sweep me off my feet was the Elote Off The Cob ( Chipotle Mayo, Garlic Cilantro Aioli, Queso Blanco, Fresh Cilantro ). All the creamy, cheesy, sweet yet spicy goodness, without any of the mess… I made sure to box up what was left of my Quinoa Bowl, elote and cauliflower. I’m not ashamed to say that hours later I had it straight from the fridge, and it made for the perfect chilled salad…

Noods

Another delicious concept by Chef Adrianne, Noods is inspired by Asia’s famous street-food scene. This modern noodle bar uses the freshest ingredients and spices to create their crispy chow mein dishes. Meat eaters can choose from Roast Pork, Chicken and Beef, but they didn’t forget about the vegetarians! Top it off with Spicy Cucumbers or a Soft Boiled Egg!

To impress those with a sweet tooth, she also launched The Beverly. A milk bar serving craft ice cream and fresh baked desserts. I’m more of a chocolate fan and not at all excited by cereal, but the Candied Cornflake Ice Cream Pie is one of the most delish treats I’ve had recently! The cornflake contrasting the velvety ice cream with the perfect crunch. But make sure to save room for the shakes. They’re scrumptiously creamy and terribly Instagram-able.

The Tonic

For boozy drinks, head to the Yumbrella’s central bar, The Tonic. Featuring a cool apothecary, speakeasy vibe and a selection of classy cocktails. If you’re opting for a mojito or daiquiri ask about seasonal flavors. I tried a traditional Mojito and Moscow Mule, but my fave was the Passionfruit Daiquiri. So refreshing, fruity, and sublime. Though you could easily chug a few, be careful, they’re surprisingly strong! Enjoy happy hour from Monday through Friday, 3pm to 7pm.

The atmosphere is casual and laid-back, but the drinks, food, and service are five star. A must for a big group of friends/family with a different palette. Or for those with insatiable appetites looking for different flavors, we’re not judging. Also home to Killer Melts, handcrafted grilled cheese sandwiches, and Dr.Limon Express, Peruvian cuisine with a Miami twist, Yumbrella Food Hall is definitely worth a visit! For a refined experience and more of her savory cooking, check out Chef’s Adrienne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar that recently celebrated its 12th anniversary.

Yumbrella Food Hall is located at 5701 Sunset Dr. , South Miami, FL 33143 inside The Shops at Sunset Place. Open from 11am-10pm Monday – Thursday, from 11am-1am on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11am-12am on Sundays.
