Shaky Beats 2019: The Ultimate Pre-Festival Guide

Don’t get lost in the shuffle. Know your way around the grounds of Shaky Beats 2019

Since coming to Atlanta in 2016, Shaky Beats has had two years to become the perfect festival season kick-off. From the line up to the experience to the average festival goer the setup and vibe is pretty standard – But if you’re new to the festival – or even if you HAVE gone in the past, its best to have a reference in your back pocket so you can have the ULTIMATE Shaky Beats experience. Peep this ultimate Shaky Beats 2019 guide so you don’t miss out on any of what’s in store for the weekend of May 10th.

The Lineup/Schedule:

Shaky Beats has definitely hit its stride when it comes to a well-curated lineup. From your headbangers to your moody chill-house swayers, to your trap heads (I mean, we ARE in Atlanta here…) there’s a set for just about everyone. One of my biggest grips when it comes to attending a festival is not having a convenient reference or schedule for the acts. Luckily enough, you can download the Shaky Beats App that you can easily pull up at any time – as well as schedule your must-sees and get push notifications when that act your dying to see is about to hit the stage. For a quick reference, here’s the full lineup and official schedule so you can start plotting your festie-attack.

Getting Around:

Located at Central Park in the Old Fourth Ward area of Atlanta, you couldn’t ask for a more central location for a festival in Atlanta. While the city has its FAIR share of prime festival spots, Shaky Beats has set up shop in potentially one of the most easily accessible spots no matter where you are in the city (or if you’re visiting). You can easily scoot your way through the city going to and from the grounds as you please.

If festival food isn’t your thing (though I HIGHLY suggest you hit up at least 3 food trucks while you’re dancing your way through the ATL Spring heat), there are tons of highly rated and even famous restaurants just walking distance from the park. If you’re a little lost in getting around the city, no worries! Shaky Beats has thrown together a handy guide for navigating Atlanta and getting in and out of the festival easily. (But why would you want to leave??)

Aside from getting to and from Central Park, you should familiarize yourself with the Shaky Beats 20119 festival grounds itself. Check out this map, compare it to your dream schedule and map.those.routes!!! After many years of festival attending, one of my sagest pieces of advice is having a plan of attack when it comes to bopping from one set to another. While, of course, with the nature of festivals plans may change, but at least having a foundation of an idea of where you want to be, it’s handy to know what stage is where, and how to get there fast so you don’t miss any of the action.

The Food:

As I said, you HAVE to hit up at least 3 food trucks while you’re at Shaky beats 2019. Why? Because there is literally something for everyone! With about 18 different Atlanta-staple restaurants setting up shop, from tacos to dumplings, Philly cheese steaks to gyros – when you’ve danced until you can’t dance anymore and need a refill, the food park will replenish you. A perfect reflection of the city itself, the food park will be a multicultural playground where you can try and taste just about every food under the sun.

The Experience:

Last, but certainly not least, the overall experience. Shaky Beats, as I said, is in its third year and thriving, people are starting to take notice of the eclectic EDM lineup and the fest itself has brought in top acts from the very get-go. With a little taste of almost every genre under the EDM umbrella, Shaky Beats is the perfect kick-off to the summer festival season in Atlanta, but aside from that, its more than just a music festival. With installations, a bodega with all your festival necessities, and elevated viewing experiences, Shaky Beats 2019 will be like a vacation filled with art, great food, and of course – amazing music.
