River Yacht Club Review – Sensational New Italian Menu

River Yacht Club review- one of my favorite places to hang out and truly enjoy the view Miami has to offer. So you can imagine my excitement when I learned I was going to be able to try their new seasonal menu. The menu was created by Michelin Star Chef Giacomo Pettinari, and believe me when I say the food was just as attractive as he is! Every dish was beautifully thought out, from the taste to the presentation.

We started the tasting for the River Yacht Club review with the corn and coconut chilled soup. The soup had hints of cilantro, Thai basil, and kafir lime and let’s not forget the VERY generous portion of crab meat. The soup came in a martini glass and was topped of with fresh basil. I’m usually not a fan of chilled soups but the corn and coconut mixture was so fresh and light! Needless to say I left that martini glass pretty empty.

The salmon poke was up next. A fresh and light dish mixed with avocado, cucumbers, nori, lemongrass, and sesame seeds. The presentation was simple but beautiful, with the plantain chips one side. This poke was absolutely delicious and refreshing. Perhaps one of my favorite dishes of the night.

The other appetizer we tried was the burrata cheese. The dish looked like a piece of art and it almost hurt to eat it. But I’m glad I did because it was sooo good! The burrata cheese was so soft and smooth. It came with piquillo peppers, red onion relish, cherry tomatoes, and opal basil. The flavors worked harmoniously in this dish.

To our surprise Chef Giacomo added an extra dish to the appetizers   At the River Yacht Club menu. We got to try the salmon pastrami. This was honestly my favorite of the appetizers. The salmon came atop potato salad and was beautifully topped off with little black balls that added extra texture to silky salmon. Just thinking about it makes me want more!

Now for the main dishes…. the best dish of the night by far…. the squid ink gnocchi. The name in itself is intriguing, but wait until you get the plate. The first thing you notice is the black gnocchi. It was so amazingly delicious, I can’t even begin to describe how mouth watering it was. The soft gnocchi would’ve sufficed in itself, but it also came with a very healthy portion of fresh lobster, mixed in a crustacean reduction and Thai basil. It would’ve been a sin to leave anything on that plate! This dish took our editor back to Italy and he could not help himself from slurping everything up from the bowl!

Next up was the sea bass crispy skin. My favorite part of this dish was, of course, the crispy skin. The sea bass was fresh and came topped with a raw vegetable salad, mint, cilantro, and the crispy skin. All of this lay over a lemongrass shitake broth. I don’t think this dish would have been the same without that perfectly crunchy, salty crispy skin.

After sampling so many savory dishes at River Yacht Club, it was time for some sweets. The first dessert we got was the almond cake. Wow, was this dessert beautiful! It was so colorful and honestly looked like a sculpture. It was almost to pretty to eat, but again…. I dug right in! The almond cake was topped with a lemon sauce, fresh fruits and berries, and green tea sorbet. The final touch was a crisp cookie on top. If you like green tea, then this dessert was made for you. The green tea sorbet was strongly flavored but combined well with the light almond cake and fruit. This was definitely a light but decadent dessert.

The last dessert was the warm pineapple tarte tatin. This was my favorite one. The pineapple flavor was in every bite, which was my favorite thing about it. Aside from the flavor, look at the dish! It was another sculpture waiting to be eaten. The tarte was drenched with a coconut sauce. It was topped with pear cinnamon sorbet and a hazelnut tuille. The different flavor profiles seemed weird in my head but they honestly worked perfectly together. I would get this dessert over and over again.
