Hora Loca: Pisco Y Nazca is the spot for Happy Hour

Pisco Y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar is one of those restaurants locals and visitors can go to for any occasion. Now with two locations in Miami (Kendall and Doral) and one in Washington D.C., it’s no doubt that Pisco Y Nazca caters to all. Whether it be a first date, family dinner, or Sunday brunch, the restaurant features a robust menu with traditional dishes like Ceviche, Causas, Grilled Octopus, and Lomo Saltado, but the delectable flavors and lively atmosphere keep guests coming back.

This Peruvian Gastrobar adds a modern twist to traditional Peruvian cuisine and thankfully with a very spacious indoor dining space, the chefs and staff are now welcoming guests back to dine-in safely both inside their dining room and at their outside tables.

The Happiest of Hours

Pisco Y Nazca translates to “the enjoyment of libations in a social setting” and we couldn’t agree more with how true it stands at each of thier Miami locations.  With cocktails between $5-$8, beers between $2-$4, and wine glasses for $4-$8, it’s hard to beat a better happy hour menu in Miami. Not to mention, Pisco Y Nazca’s Hora Loca is Monday through Sunday (yeah, that’s right – every day) from 4 PM to 7 PM in Kendall and from 5 PM to 7 PM in Downtown Doral.

The Hora Loca food menu has a variety of appetizers in small tapas style portions, perfect for tasting and sharing with friends. Crafted by Chef Miguel Fernandez, who was formerly of Gastón Acurio’s La Mar in San Francisco, he truly has captured all the best flavors in perfect harmony.

Libations for the Soul

Our favoites were the classic Pisco Sour, made with Pisco, lime juice, sugar, and egg whites for the foam, topped with 3 drops of bitters.

Being that Pisco is in the name, you better believe they have a whole Pisco section on the menu and we loved the Guapo’s Chilcano, made with Pisco, lime juice, passion fruit purée, Fever-Tree ginger beer, mint, and rocoto tincture.

For Mule lovers, try the Nazca Mule, made with Pisco, Fever-Tree ginger beer, and lime juice. If you don’t happen to be a Pisco drinker, don’t worry! The cocktail menu is also stacked with a full wine list, red and white sangrias, a beer selection, and more flavorful but light cocktails for everyone.

Hora Loca Everyday

The best part of Pisco Y Nazca’s Happy Hour is how extensive thier drinks and food menu are. Usually Miami restaurants just give you well drink options and maybe a couple bar bites, if your lucky. The Hora Loca menu features mini portions of some of thier best appetizers, including three types of ceviche for $5 each. The Traditional is with fish, classic leche de tigre, cancha, choclo, and sweet potato. The Passion Fruit is made with fish, shrimp, passion fruit leche de tigre, cancha, and choclo. The Cremoso featured fish, shrimp, creamy leche de tigre, aji limo, and sweet potato.

Another classic must-have is the Papas a la huancaina ($5) with Idaho potatoes, huancaina sauce, boiled egg, botija olives and served cold. The sauce is so creamy and the perfect appetizer to start the Hora Loca journey.

The Empanada de pollo ($7) was probably the best chicken empanada I’ve had in a while. It was all about that flaky breading, nicely crispy but still soft to the bite and stuffed with a delicious chicken stew with rocoto pepper aioli, ají amarillo.

For the fish fans, the Causa Crocante ($7) is highly recommended, which is a traditional perviaun dish that Pisco Y Nazca makes with panko shrimp topped on a bed of whipped potato and a little pico de gallo and rocoto aioli on the side. Pro-tip: Be sure to make your bites with a little bit of every component, it’s taste bud heaven!

Bar Bites Hideaway

The tip of the iceburg is with these next two dishes. The Toston ($3.50) with a crispy toston (fried and flattened plantain) topped with saucy pulled pork, avocado, salsa criolla, ají amarillo mojo, and pickled red onions.

Conchita a la Parmesana ($4) is a baked scallop with parmesan cheese and sauce melted on top with lime and garlic chips. The scallop literally melts like butter the moment it hits your tounge and the cheese sticks around to make you say, “one more please!”. Be sure to use that grilled ciabatta bread it’s served with as your spoon.
