There is something exceptional in the air at the Faena Hotel. There is this intoxicating energy that imbues one with a regal feeling. Walking through the doors and into this haven of plush indulgence seems to elevate the resort’s patrons. We visited their acclaimed restaurant, Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann for Miami Spice and were quite impressed!

August and September are very special months for local foodies, when they get a chance to explore signature dishes at reduced prices by world renowned chefs every summer. Miami Spice showcases the very best of Greater Miami and the Beaches’ diverse cuisine featuring three-course meals at the top eateries in the city reasonably priced at $23 for lunch/brunch and $39 for dinner. This is the time to visit those expensive restaurants you have been pining for all year!

Los Fuegos by Chef Francis Mallmann is a contemporary take on the traditional Argentine asado experience at Faena Hotel Miami Beach. Los Fuegos offers an authentic South American dining experience in a opulent Miami setting.

Mallmann has designed a large, custom-built wood oven, the “piano,” a grand-scale grill of bespoke design that is being crafted in Texas, planchas and hooks from which to hang fish and meat from, as well as a section dedicated solely to cooking in ashes. Additionally, Mallmann has designed special cooking utensils exclusively for the Faena fire kitchen made from materials ranging from copper, wood and iron to porcelain, marble and stainless steel.

Los Fuegos has a stellar Miami Spice menu we will walk you through. Definitely start with the OXTAIL CROQUETES with lemon aioli & fresh herbs. It was the best croquettes the Shedonist ever had!! Scrumptious ox in a perfect crispy shell.

We also enjoyed the artistic SLOW COOK LEEK “AL RESCOLDO” with romesco sauce, breadcrumbs and goat cheese. Superbly cooked leeks in a heavenly creamy sauce and the goat cheese does not overpower the dish.

For the main order the RIBEYE CHURRASCO with grilled polenta, criolla sauce & fresh parsley salad. This place is renown for their steaks and we totally feel it. High quality meat, seasoned well and cooked in a distinct and enjoyable fashion.

We always recommend ordering all 2 dessert options for spice. The DULCE DE LECHE TART with burnt chocolate mousse & baileys caramel was definitely our fave though. A lighter option is the FROZEN VANILLA PROFITEROLE with grilled mango & orange passion jam.

Dinner was a wonderful experience. An exquisite setting, tasty fare and an amazing singer serenading us with Sinatra tunes. It is always a pleasure at the Faena! Happy Spicing!!
