Green Bar & Kitchen – Vibrant Vegan Café in Fort Lauderdale

Upon entering the doors of Green Bar & Kitchen, I was greeted by friendly staff and instantly could smell the yummy food in the air. I loved the shirts the staff were wearing that read “Plant Dealer”, and knew right away that this was going to be an amazing, nutritious, plant-based dinner. Reading the menu that was full of authentic vegan dishes made my mouth start to water. So many dishes to choose from, but first, drinks!

Organic Drinks

Green Bar & Kitchen makes their own organic, fresh-squeezed juices. I tried the Spice Up Your Life (orange juice, lemon, ginger and cayenne) and One in a Melon (watermelon juice). The juices were so refreshing and delightful. Other drink options include Yerbamate, Hemplade, Prophet Kombucha, Kombucha on tap, and fruit-infused water. Craft beer and wine are also available.

Appetizers/Sides

This heavenly dinner started with the Palm Krab Cakes. These were made of chickpea, hearts of palm, artichoke, vegenaise, parsley, kelp, scallion, spice blend, arugula, and pickled onions. It was the first time in years that I fulfilled that desire of eating crab cakes ever since I became a vegan. They were so delicious that I would choose them over real crab cakes any day. 10/10 recommend starting your meal off with these bad boys.

Plant-Based Entrees

Next up, the Hummingbird Salad. This dish is made with power greens, blossoms, medjool dates, vanilla pickled blueberries, puffed hemp granola, and sweet nectar dressing. This salad was as beautiful as a hummingbird and even tasted like the beauty of a hummingbird. Nice and sweet, but not too sweet, with a lot of different variety of flavors. By far the best salad I have ever enjoyed. Green Bar & Kitchen also offers several different types of superfood bowls and salads.

The Coconut Burger was another banger. This scrumptious veggie burger has vegetable protein patty breaded in toasted coconut panko, lettuce, tomato, red onion, chipotle mayo, and sunflower sprouts. This café is also home to the BAD (Breakfast All Day) Burger that was recently awarded “Best Veggie Burger in America” at the SEED Food & Wine Festival.
