Donut Farm, located in Silver Lake, is LA’s newest organic vegan bakery and coffee bar. Originally founded in the Bay Area by owner Josh Levine in 2006, Donut Farm serves up delicious vegan donuts made with local farmers market produce. Finally you can feel good about your sweet addiction.
Levine began developing his vegan donut recipe from scratch in small pots of oil on his kitchen stove and eventually started a wholesale only distribution company called Pepples Donut Farm in 2007. In 2010, the first storefront locations were opened, and now LA donut lovers rejoice as 2016 brought us Silver Lake’s own Donut Farm.
Don’t underestimate the deliciousness of Donut Farm’s treats just because they are located in an unassuming strip mall. These donuts are the real deal. Their menu features classic favorites as well as rotating seasonal flavors. Highlights include Salted Caramel (a personal favorite of mine,) Lavender Earl Grey, Matcha Green Tea, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Blueberry, Roasted Chili, and Whiskey Tangerine Fig (WTF) just to name a few. And of course there are classics like Vanilla Glaze, Chocolate, and Vanilla Sprinkle. And if you like fritters, they’ve has got you covered with their Banana Fritter, which tastes just like you are eating a caramelized banana. It is epically delicious.
To wash your donuts down, be sure to order a cold brew, espresso, latte, and fair trade McLaughlin coffee. Matcha lattes and a rotating assortment of iced teas and lemonades are also available at the vegan coffee bar. You can choose between soy and almond milk to sweeten your drink.
