Dashi Review – Progressive Japanese Cuisine at River Yacht Club

Dashi Review – Fantastic Progressive Japanese Cuisine

River Yacht Club is no stranger to change – with rotating chefs and cuisines, they keep their guests on their toes. The space they have, the views of the water and the brunch make it hard to leave. Speaking of space – as much as I love River Yacht Club this post is actually about the brand new restaurant on premise called Dashi. They are offering up progressive Japanese cuisine and quite possibly changing the game.

The menu was created for sharing (which I always love) so you are able to try a bunch of things. It is also full of innovative creations like green tea soba noodles, seaweed broth infused cocktails and miso Japanese eggplant. Wondering where you should start? I have you covered.

Obviously, start with a cocktail – start with the tanto – stoli elite, raspberry, lychee, lemon & tyku premium junmai daiginjo. This was the perfect cocktail for sitting next to the water, super refreshing!

Now that there’s a cocktail in hand, I permit you to order all of the Dashi goods. I absolutely, positively urge you to start with the Sashimi More-Awase –it is beyond fresh and perfect. The salmon was some of the freshest and silkiest we have ever tasted.

Dashi - Hamachi Ponzu

Next up, the Cha – Soba Salad – shiitake, asparagus, edamame. These are actually green tea soba noodles, which is not only very cool but also delicious! This is definitely a light, cold option.

Moving onto the ‘hot’ dishes – the sea bass miso – scallion & hoba is out of control. The flavor is sort of like a teriyaki multiplied by ten – amazing.

The white fish kara-age is just something you have to get. Little pieces of fried white fish sounds simple but these were so tasty!

Last but not least, the lamb – amadore, rosemary and wasabi. I would order this dish for the sauce alone – I think I could’ve easily drank it. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the charred rosemary perfumes the dish. I can’t wait to see what else Dashi has up their sleeves.
