Continental Happy Hour – Tiki Madness Miami Style

Continental Miami just launched the most ‘playful’ Happy Hour on Miami Beach. The Continental Happy Hour features their most popular Tiki-inspired Cocktails, Dragonfruit Mule and Dominicana Old Fashioned , for $5 from 5PM – 7PM every single weeknight.  Also, offered for five bucks are tavern bites drafted from their regular dinner menu.

Sweet and tart, the Dragonfruit Mule packs a punch.  The vivid purple Vodka cocktail is shaken with Dragonfruit Puree, Fresh Lime and Fever Tree Ginger Beer.

I favor the Dominicana Old Fashioned made with potent Private Cask Dominican Rum and Cinnamon infused-Coconut Water. This Old Fashioned version is so light and refreshing, I could easily drink it all night long.

The place to sip or swig these tropical libations is at Continental Miami’s colorful retro outdoor bar in the courtyard patio overlooking Lake Panocoast, on one side, and Aloft South Beach’s Pool Deck on the other.

From the Continental Happy Hour bar menu, one of my favorites were the Chicken Sliders –sweet and spicy Korean Sauce is glazed on meaty morsels of crispy Chicken, and sandwiched between a small fresh bun roll.  

My other best-loved bar bite were the Chicken Tacos – chunks of tender roasted Chicken covered in Chihuahua Cheese, Avocado, Pico De Gallo and Crema on fresh locally-sourced warm Tortillas.

Both bar bites were substantial, which is especially important to me when I am tossing down yummy cocktails. I did however, venture off from the Continental Happy Hour selections, to try the smooth and earthy Bump and Grind ($15).

This Espolón Blanco Tequila and Mezcal cocktail is served in a ceramic Hawaiian Totem Tiki Mug mixed with Fresh Watermelon Juice and Allspice Dram and garnished with slapped, fresh Mint. Make sure you have your affairs in order before you tussle with the Polynesian spirits inhabiting this specialty drink.

The meal size Nachos, new item on Continental’s regular menu, quite nicely appeases your ravenous taste buds and grumbling stomach.

Continental Happy Hour guests are also encouraged to amuse themselves with an assortment of complimentary board games like Jenga and backgammon.
