The Citadel is Miami’s Best Food Hall

The Citadel is Miami’s Best Food Hall

The Citadel, an all-day dining, shopping and entertainment destination in Miami’s historic Little River District The Citadel is located at (8300 NE Second Avenue) is open!!  We have been to all the other food halls and this by far is the best!! Everything we tried was stellar. We can not wait until we see what else they have in store “pun intended” for us! Our faves were – Manjay, Bachour, Ash Pizza, Meet ’n Cheese & 33 Kitchen (see our 33 Kitchen review here.)

The community-centric gathering place for great artisanal food, handcrafted cocktails, maker driven retail, and culturally-immersive experiences first opened its food hall & bar, featuring 15 culinary concepts, and will be followed by its rooftop bar and retail makerspace.

“The Citadel is more than a food hall; it’s a catalyst for collaboration and a space for culinary craftsmen, makers, musicians, and creative leaders,” said Nick Hamann, principal of Urban Atlantic Group, owner of The Citadel. “By bridging the culinary and creative communities in an open environment, we’re able to gather and inspire like-minds, while satisfying everyone’s taste buds, all under one roof.”

Originally built in 1951 as a First Federal Savings & Loan Bank, the building was purposefully redesigned in 2016 to preserve the original landmark’s MiMo architectural style. The 62,000-square-foot, mixed-use building mindfully integrates a food hall & bar, retail shops, a rooftop bar, radio and production studios, and a music and entertainment venue. Without ever having to leave the Citadel, creative tenants, locals and visitors will discover inspiration on every floor.

In addition, The Citadel will roll-out robust community programming and partnerships designed to enhance the experience at the iconic building. Cultural events to watch for include live music, weekend workshops and pop-up makerspaces featuring local artists and creators.

Hamann has been a driving force in the Little River neighborhood and creative community, having opened its sister co-working space, MADE at the Citadel, across the street in 2015, and bringing in several other businesses to the area including Sherwood’s, Nomad Tribe, and Fire Kitchen.

“From the beginning, it has been our vision to build a long-term, and sustainable creative ecosystem in one of this city’s oldest neighborhoods,” said Hamann. “MADE at the Citadel has been Little River’s anchor for creativity and entrepreneurial development, and now with the opening of The Citadel, we’re able to deliver on our vision by providing the community with a platform for business growth.”
