California Frozen Poppers – Bacon, Truffle & Cake Popcorn
By Juliann Fritz
Have you ever got that specific craving for your favorite treat? Whether it may be salty or sweet, you have to eat THAT thing in order to be satisfied. Nothing else will do. For example, you REALLY want a slice of cake. You go to the grocery store, buy the cake, indulge in a few slices, and feel that guilt because you just broke your diet because of some overwhelming craving. California Frozen Poppers, may just be the solution to the “to eat or not to eat?” dilemma.
Joshua Chaney, the owner of California Frozen Poppers, has created over 300 flavors of FROZEN popcorn ranging from salty, savory, sweet, chocolate and everything in between. He started California Frozen Poppers a few years ago with his partner Sulmaz. The pair met while donating their time to feed the homeless on skid row, one of the toughest areas of Los Angeles. They are a fun team who continue to help out charitable causes in the community.
This is an introductory example of what the menu looks like. All of the popcorn is air popped, gluten free, and made with real caramel. An important fact: This is the world’s first frozen popcorn. After trying several of their hand made creations, there is no doubt that California Frozen Poppers has set the bar high for the popcorn world.
This flavor is called Bacon on the Brain. It tastes exactly how it looks, a crunchy concoction of real bacon bits, maple, and caramel. Bacon is everywhere these days but I never expected to find bacon popcorn. Bacon on the Brain will remind you of an indulgent breakfast complete with bacon, pancakes, and maple syrup.
This one will take you back to the beginning and my example of the random craving for something indulgent. It is appropriately named Caked, and it’s a cupcake in popcorn form. It tastes just like a vanilla cupcake! The sprinkles add color and crunch. Overall it will satisfy that random sweet craving but beware: just like an actual vanilla cupcakes, it is hard to just eat one.
This is The Naked Turtle, complete with pecans and pralines. The nutty flavor compliments well with the caramel and it is perfectly suited to satisfy that craving where you do not know if you want something salty or sweet. Stop worrying, the Naked Turtle is going to take care of your craving problems.
This air popped goodness smothered in chocolate is called OMG! And yes, those are real M&M’s in there as well. This one is definitely for the chocolate lover. The M&M’s are a nice addition and the chocolate goes well with the crunchy, salty popcorn. Like everything at California Frozen Poppers, it is hard not to binge.
While this one looks like the most simple out of all of them thus far, you don’t want to underestimate it. If you are a Trader Joe’s junkie, then you may be familiar with their decadent cookie butter. Yes, this is cookie butter popcorn. Dubbed the Traded Joe, this baby is crunchy caramel decadence dipped in cookie butter. If you can’t decide between eating a whole bag of popcorn or a jar of cookie butter the Traded Joe will solve your dilemma.
This is Granny’s Green Apple. This popcorn blends sour, crunchy and sweet all into one. It tastes just like a caramel apple. The crushed caramel apple candy gives it that bright green color. Granny’s Green Apple is perfect for the sour candy lover.
California Frozen Poppers offers these awesome jars that you can fill up with all of your favorite flavors. They are re-fillable so don’t hesitate to come back after you run out. And finally, they offer an awesome deal: Buy three bags of popcorn and get your fourth free.
California Frozen Poppers offers free samples to their customers, but good luck leaving empty handed. The diverse menu offers something for everyone. Next time you have that intense craving for your favorite treat, I guarantee California Frozen Poppers will have just the thing you are looking for.
