Batch West Palm Beach- A Slice of Modern Southern Heaven

While the established and well- respected Batch Hospitality Group also boasts locations in both Miami and Delray Beach, FL, Batch West Palm Beach New Southern Kitchen & Tap restaurant differs from its sister Gastropub spots in a variety of ways. One thing that really stood out to us as unique is Batch’s commitment to doing as much as possible in house– and as for the few products and processes they aren’t able to conduct themselves, they still source locally and sustainably, so you can feel good about supporting an authentic business that is positively benefiting the community.

Welcoming guests on West Palm Beach’s eclectic Clematis Street since 2018, Batch New Southern is the perfect spot to eat a comforting, yet very cool, meal before hitting the bars next door or heading elsewhere for the rest of your night- or if you’re just looking to make one stop to satisfy both your food and beverage craving for the evening, this place has definitely got you covered! In addition to mouth- watering classic dishes with a modern twist, Batch serves garden- to- glass cocktails that are hand- crafted to inventive perfection.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to try some of Batch’s iconic “fizz” cocktails which are carbonated and served on tap. Our personal favorite was the Bootlegger, a refreshing Jalapeno and Pineapple- infused Moonshine drink, with fruity Guava and Citrus elements that balance the spice aspect perfectly. Among other delicious choices is one of the best house- made Gin & Tonic’s I’ve had in South Florida, complete with Grapefruit- Hibiscus bitters.

For appetizers, we decided to keep it classic and went with the Cathead Biscuits to start. These surely did not disappoint and were served with Chili- Thyme honey, seasonal local jam, and Bourbon Maple- butter that absolutely exceeded our expectations. We also really enjoyed their fresh Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, which came as a thick stack with just the right flavor profile of Chives, Lemon and Spicy Remoulade.

Main Course

For our entrees, we went with one vegetarian- friendly option, as well as the carnivore’s most iconic Southern delicacy. When it comes to “Chicken ‘N’ Waffles”, these are definitely substantial and pretty hard to beat. After all, not many other kitchens would think to incorporate cornbread into the waffle components to further amplify the Southern vibe in a creative way. On the other hand, the Grass Fed section of their menu offers hearty vegetarian selections, with the opportunity to make vegan accommodations as well! As it’s sometimes difficult to separate meat from Southern comfort cooking, we were very impressed with the yummy (and filling) Veggie Pot Pie, complete with an impressive biscuit top. Lastly, we just had to test out one of Batch New Southern’s customizable build- your- own “Mac Attack” dishes on behalf of the ever- expanding Mac ‘N’ Cheese addicts anonymous community. We loved their unique “Frito dust” touch, and enjoyed our choice of the jackfruit topping, which is one of their options for additions, along with truffle oil, whiskey- caramelized onions and Pecanwood- smoked bacon. We know, just…wow.

In the realm of desserts, our server recommended a silky chocolate delicacy he personally campaigned to get on the menu, and trust us when we say it’s absolutely deserving of its spot. The staff at Batch New Southern is energetic, more than knowledgeable, and beyond easy to talk to, which only served to elevate our overall experience, making the meal even more enjoyable. The restaurant’s ambiance is warm without being overpowering, making it an awesome option for a date or opportunity to catch up with a group of old friends. From the light bulb- strewn ceilings to the huge cozy booths, Batch’s decor provides the ideal setting to make you feel comfortable yet intrigued, and as is evidenced by our meal described above, the menu selections are nothing short of captivating.
