Inspired by foods, flavors and culture of his hometown of Chennai, India, Executive Chef Ramesh Kaduru adds a touch of flair this season as he presents A Passage to India: An Authentic Indian Pop-Up Restaurant. Beginning Thursday, October 3rd, The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami’s signature restaurant, Bizcaya will transform into a rich, vibrant and sultry dinner destination — marrying traditions, spices and flavors of India.

Kaduru joined The Ritz-Carlton family over 10 years ago in Naples, shortly after his arrival to the United States. Due to his expertise in Indian cuisine, he partnered with Ritz-Carlton sister properties to orchestrate culinary masterpieces for Indian weddings. Kaduru’s pop up restaurant menu remains true to original flavors, preparations and ingredients yet, crafts each dish with modern touches. Menu selections include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options with traditional favorites such as Masala Shrimp, Chicken Tikka, Masala Dosa and Dal Makhani.

Often seen strutting majestic iridescent colors of bright blues, greens and gold in the lush neighborhoods of Coconut Grove, peacocks serve as the inspiration of the décor and ambiance of the temporary restaurant, paying homage to India’s national bird. Low lying sheer multicolor fabrics adorn the ceiling from end-to-end, as gold and silver beaded accent pillows sparkle in cozy, soft seating, covered with bold tapestries.

Festivities of Diwali, or “festival of lights”, will illuminate the restaurant on the last day of the month long restaurant in celebration of one of India’s most important holidays. Want to learn how to create Indian delicacies at home? Chef Kaduru invites guests to an intimate and exclusive cooking demonstration in the restaurant’s private dining room. After preparation of each dish, enjoy bites and tastes of each including a traditional Lassi beverage, appetizer and entrée. Saturday, October 12th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. $35 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Only 15 reservations available. Reservations required by calling (305) 644-4675.
