420 Culinary Experience by Chef Paul at Legends Tavern and Grille

420 Culinary Experience by Chef Paul at Legends Tavern and Grille

Times are changing, and so are people’s minds about cannabis as legalization spreads. With so many benefits, this herb only gains popularity, and its billion-dollar industry keeps growing.  Wether your interest is recreational, medical, or both, there’s now endless options to receive exactly the effects you’re looking for. “Marijuana” is no longer a bad word, or a treat for hippies and losers. Instead it’s being recognized, researched, and even celebrated. Specially on a holidaze like 420 (April 20th), a.k.a “national weed day”. Origins vary, but they say in the 70’s high schoolers would gather to light up at 4:20pm. Decades later it’s still the code for anything related. Talk about a happy hour.

Any cannaisseur knows about the munchies. So it’s no surprise that with this growing acceptance, more and more cannabis-friendly gastronomic events pop up. Legends Tavern and Grille, is a gastropub that offers a wide array of food and craft beer, at their locations in Deerfield, Lighthouse Point, and Sunrise, FL. Where I properly celebrated this year at Chef Paul’s 420 Culinary Experience. Indulging in a dope holiday-inspired menu for herbal enthusiasts, all infused with CBD.

Drinks

CBD-infused beverages can get pricey, but here they were only $4.20! I started off with the Blueberry T-iesel, a blend of New Amsterdam Vodka, Lime Juice, Blueberries, CBD Infused Agave Nectar, Mint Leaves and Club Soda. Very easy to drink, minty, and refreshing. But the winner was the Pineapple Express Yourself, a smooth blend of Rosemary Infused Mezcal Tequila, Cynar, Averna, Lime Juice, CBD Infused Agave Nectar, Pineapple Juice and Pinch of Salt. We ordered seconds, getting hooked on its fruity yet smoky taste.

For the beer lovers, they had 420 Strain G13 IPA, an aromatic super-hybrid sticky IPA beer, with an olfactory experience that mimics that of the legendary G13 cannabis strain. Or 420 Strain Mango Kushan American Wheat packed with herbal, juicy mango notes and a distinctive dank nose.

Munchies

The menu featured “typical stoner” fare, but way elevated. With creative names for their dishes such as the Moonrocks (Pork and Beef Meatballs, CBD Infused Korean BBQ Sauce, Toasted Sesame Seeds, Crispy Bok Choy, Togarashi) and the Sticky Icky Bread Pudding (Cinnamon Toast Crunch Pudding, CBD Infused Bourbon Maple Syrup, Crumbled Teddy Grahams).

We started our meal fighting over the delicious Loaded Nuggz ( Tater Tots, Roasted Herbs, Pineapple Express CBD Infused Truffle Oil, Parmesan, Killer Queso, Siracha, and Bacon). Making sure to properly douse each crispy tot in the cheesy and slightly spicy sauce.

Though all entrees were worth a try, my  heart was stolen by the Hazy Buffalo Truffle Mac & Cheese (CBD Infused Purple Haze Beer & Aged Gouda Beer Cheese Sauce, Buffalo Chicken, CBD Infused Truffle Oil, Cavatappi Pasta). Delightfully rich and creamy, with just the perfect heat from the buffalo sauce. The Parmesan herb dusted crostinis it’s served with gave a nice crunch for contrast.

The Stuff

The Stuff

We were too full for dessert, but we did have The Stuff (Peanut Butter & Jelly French Toast Challah Hot Pocket with CBD Bourbon Maple Syrup) which is enough to satisfy any sweet tooth. Topped with Crunch Berries and a side of Waffle Fries! Don’t worry if it sounds like too much, the peanut butter adds just enough saltyness to balance out.

The star of all the dishes were the sauces, which infused in CBD, gave us an even better excuse to saturate our food in. Though unlike THC, which gives euphoric cerebral effects, CBD allows you to stay alert but has all the same pain-relieving and calming, medicinal properties.

Despite the 420 Culinary Experience menu being limited-time only, we’ll definitely be coming back to Legends Tavern and Grille to try what else their huge menu has to offer. We had to taste the Calamari, and we’re quite pleased with the crispy rings and marinara. And though I’m not sure if it was the CBD or the food coma, but I slept like a baby after this fire dining experience!

Legends Tavern and Grille has locations in Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point, and Sunrise, FL. Open Monday-Saturday from 11:30am-11pm and Sundays from 11:30am-10pm. For more info click here.
