Grand Tasting Village at SOBEWFF – All the Goods You Missed

Until Next Year, Grand Tasting Village!

The most wonderful time of the year has come and gone. We’re still trying to detox from SOBEWFF! We were able to hit up the Grand Tasting Village just in time to see the legend, himself – Snoop Dogg. Who knew he had skills in the kitchen?! Once we got past the shock of seeing him fry up some chicken wings and rap to ‘Gin and Juice’ we were able to move onto eating our weight in goodies.

The Grand Tasting Village is the heart of SOBEWFF – you can see your favorite celebs for a demo, snap a picture at their book signing and fill your belly with unspeakable amounts of food from some of the best restaurants in Miami.

First things first – take this pro tip if you’ve never been to the grand tasting village; PACE YOURSELF. Granted, most bites are small – but don’t let this fool you! It will sneak up on you. My suggestion? Take one bite of everything and eat the whole thing if you’re really enjoying it.

Except for this – eat all of your affogato!

Ok lecture over – on to the goods! One of the booths that sticks out in my head is the ‘Dewar’s Scotch Egg Club.’ Their booth had a speakeasy vibe and friendly faces. They were serving up a shot of double aged scotch with nonother than a scotch egg. They won for presentation in my book – they set up the shot and the egg in an egg carton.

How cute is that?

One of my other favorites was Burlock Coast because they were serving oysters two ways: One fresh and one fried with some sort of red pepper gremolata. Delish! It made me want to check out their restaurant to see what other dishes they would be serving up.

The other one that stuck out was The Poke House. Since poke is all the rage right now I had to try their ‘pipeline nacho’ – something along the lines of fresh salmon, marinated cucumber salad, wakame and sushi rice on a wonton chip. SO GOOD.
