River Yacht Club held a private dinner to feature their Summer menu of globally inspired entrees created by Chef Alex Chang.  The property’s landscape and view of the Miami River are breathtaking and relaxing at the River Yacht Club, designed by renowned architect, Raymond Jungles.

Family style setting as we overlooked the beautiful property and Miami river, the nautical themed room was the perfect ambiance for the evenings Mediterranean inspired dishes.

With the Miami weather being so hot and humid, it was nice to enjoy cool refreshing glass after glass of Cotes De Provence Rosé 2014, with its immense delight reminiscent of fennel, anise and purple flowers.

Gazpacho makes the perfect addition to a summer menu so it was great to see the River Yacht Club had a chilled tomatillo gazpacho, a delicious and zesty shot with flavors of mango, cilantro and cancha as its opening appetizer.

Thai Style Ribeye Carpaccio  raw ribeye sliced thin topped with crispy shallots, key lime vinaigrette and herbs.  The thinly sliced meat, dressing and natural juices from the meat on the palate truly had me in carnivore heaven.

A melt in your mouth dish, the tuna tataki with a Yuzu vinaigrette, avocado and quinoa was so fresh and delicious.  To the eye it is such a colorful and elegant display that you almost do not want to take it apart but it is much too delectable not to.

Never have I seen such huge, in the shell shrimp like the grilled jumbo shrimp dish served on the River Yacht Club Summer menu with romesco, almond and tomato salsa.  Also for the mains, a tender and juicy half roasted Peruvian chicken made with aji verde, paprika served with a sweet corn bread and a whole roasted yellow tail snapper; fresh, whole ingredients, including the unique flavors of green papaya, chermoula, and Shishito pepper, made all the difference.

There were two desserts on the menu.  First was a chocolate fudge with vanilla ice cream, a chocolate lovers dream without feeling like you got completely chocolate wasted as it was more of a light and fluffy cream texture.  Milk chocolate creaminess to every bite with notes of berries.

On to what really stole the show for the evening on the River Yacht Club menu was the dessert, Baba au rum “sundae”.  In French, the word baba means, “falling over or dizzy” which is a perfect name for this French dessert bread that is soaked in liquor.  Chef Chang’s take on this dish was making it a buttermilk panna cotta, cheesecake mousse served sundae style topped with a crispy cone.  Absolutely delicious!

River Yacht Club is also home to the first ever VanDutch Lounge, a private terrain created exclusively for the prestigious brand’s boat owners.  Next time you are in the Downtown Miami area make sure you stop by this luxurious spot with its impressive surroundings for dinner or even for drinks and a great view.
