K Restaurant College Park Review – Brunch is Now On the Menu

K Restaurant College Park, a staple in the chic area since 2001, is located in a quaint cottage right on Edgewater. Inside, the ambiance continues, with a feel reminiscent of an old New England inn (complete with a large, usable front porch). Though management changed hands last summer, the popular eatery has kept its charm and flavor – much to the delight of regulars.

Under new ownership as of July, K Restaurant is owned and operated by Executive Chef Chad Phelps. Chef de Cuisine Ryan McLaughlin, along with Pastry Chef Michelle Hulbert, have created a menu of New-American cuisine with a forward-thinking approach to nostalgic favorites. There is something to please every palate on the menu, chock full of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. One thing has changed, however: the addition of a much-needed Sunday Brunch.

No brunch is complete without a cocktail, so we each chose the Night City Blues: High West Oat Vodka, St. Germain, lemon, ginger syrup, and blueberry. Light and refreshing, it was a nice change from the constant mimosa offerings at similar brunch spots. It certainly helped wash down the incredible, fluffy biscuits served with a tasty truffle butter. We split the Shrimp & Grits brunch starter: Florida rock shrimp, complete with creamy grits and creole spices. Seriously, this epic dish brought me right to the bayou.

We were also lucky enough to try out some INSANE s’mores waffles, complete with the thickest slabs of bacon I’ve ever seen (visible in the cover photo above).

Entree wise, my guest and I have very different tastes. Which, of course, is good for review purposes. I went with the Pork Belly Benedict, seen above: Crispy pork belly, Michelle’s biscuits, PERFECTLY poached eggs, and some delightful hot sauce hollandaise (you know I love all things spicy!). The pretty plate looked almost as good as it tasted. My guest went with the omelet of the day, served with toast, home fries, and some colorful sliced Heirloom tomato.

Our entire first brunch experience at K was gratifying from beginning to end, and we both had to agree that the change of hands has only improved the complete dining experience. I am excited to get back there for dinner, to see what else they have tucked up their sleeves.

K Restaurant is located at 1710 Edgewater Drive in Orlando, in the heart of College Park. Check their website for hours and special events (including an Easter brunch – stay tuned!).
