City Tap House West Palm Beach Review
City Tap House is located in one of the best areas in West Palm Beach, City Place. The environment is fun and upbeat. City Tap House also has a bar right outside of their actual restaurant before you walk in with enough craft beers to keep you happy the whole night. I suggest you start with the pimiento cheese AND/OR the whipped ricotta. The Pimento Cheese -Bacon jam, Caraway Crackers, Pickled Cucumber. It has such an intense savory flavor, especially with the addition of the bacon jam on top. The caraway crackers are super crispy and even add to the flavor of the spread.
The Ricotta- Orange-Fig Jam, Grilled Baguette. I love ricotta as it is but add some orange and some fig jam and I’m all in! I also want to mention that both of these come with a really good amount of dip. Definitely enough to share between at least 3-4 people.
One of the other cold small plates I really liked was the Tuna Carpaccio – Yuzu-Ginger Dressing, Pickled Cucumber, Candied Peanuts, Micro-Cilantro. The yuzu-ginger dressing added such great flavor to the tuna. It was ice cold and sliced super thin, which made for a delicious appetizer.
On to the hot bites! I really enjoyed the Corn and Crab Hush Puppies – Citrus Remoulade, Honey-Thyme Butter. These had good size pieces of the crab as well as the corn in them, and they’re fried so how can you go wrong with that, right?
One of my favorite things that I cannot resist oredering anywhere I go is tacos. The Korean Short Rib Taco – Pickled Cabbage Slaw, Cilantro, Chili Sauce had such a delicious spicy flavor with a pretty big pile of meat on top of each tortilla.
When we decided to order one of the “plates”, there was no question about ordering the Grilled Hangar Steak – Herb Marinade, Pickled Pepper Sofrito, Glazed Tostones, Chimichurri. The meat was cooked just how I asked (medium rare) and is served on a bed of the pickled pepper sofrito, and some tostones [fried green plantains] with a delicious sweet and savory glaze (don’t forget about these!).
