It’s almost Cinco de Mayo Miami, the holiday very few people know what the hell we are actually celebrating. That does not stop us from putting on fake Mexican mustaches and drinking copious amounts of liquor like it will evaporate out of existence the next day. In preparation for May’s most important drinking holiday, we have rounded up some kick ass liquor recipes and the spots that are slinging them. Starting this weekend for their famous Sunday Brunch, Bagatelle will host those weekend warriors that just can’t wait till D-day to start the celebrations. Toro Toro is having a “Tattoos & Tequila” party, with tattoo artists on site doing live tattoos!

Jalapeño Mexican Kitchen and Power96 are hosting the ultimate Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Ocean Drive. Bring your sombreros, shake your maracas and put on your favorite poncho for a day of eating, drinking and celebrating like our South of the Border neighbors. Nothing festive in your closet? J. Wakefield Brewing Cinco de Mayo Dinner at The Federal

The Federal, beer enthusiast Evan Benn and John J. Wakefield of Wakefield Brewery are teaming up to host a Mexico-meets-Miami Cinco de Mayo celebration with specially treated beers just for the dinner – they even included the very last keg of Harbinger Imperial Sweet Stout reserve which won’t be brewed again until the winter.

7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. | Cocktail Session

The evening will begin with a cocktail session including Passion Fruit Margarita Berlinerweisse and appetizers will be passed around along with tequila shots as an added bonus.

7:30 p.m. | Dinner

Chef Cesar Zapata has carefully prepared and paired a five course menu which will include seasonal and locally grown vegetarian options of hibiscus jefe and tamarind stush. Seafood options are filled with flavors of granbana, kefir lime leaf, mango, mamey, and red bell peppers. A sweet dessert of chocolate covered churros with infused coffee and chile tequila brings the meal to a close.

The Rum Line El Toro Blanco Cinco de Mayo Takeover

Kick off the fiesta at the Caribbean-inspired al fresco bar, The Rum Line, as it welcomes Manhattan’s gourmet Mexican eatery, El Toro Blanco, to Miami for an exclusive Cinco de Mayo takeover. Festivities begin on Tuesday, May 5thfrom 6PM until 12AM with live entertainment, party favors, and Happy Hour specials starting at $4 for Modelo and Micheladas; $5 for Margaritas, Paloma’s and Ancho Mexican Fireball Shots; and $7 for Mexican inspired cocktails.
