Argentinean Dinner at Novecento

Dinner at Novecento

Novecento is full of surprises. From the second you walk through the door, there is a casual vibe in one area and a fine dining in the other. They are boasting a classic Argentinean menu, and have even added some Italian twists.

My favorite thing at every Argentinean restaurant has to be the provoleta, not because it’s the same everywhere but I like it because every restaurant has their own take on it. This Provoleta Novecento had roasted onions, cherry tomatoes, red peppers and oregano. If you’ve never had it before its basically a giant hunk of provolone that they melt in a skillet and bring to your table all stringy and bubbly.

The next appetizer I would recommend is the Ceviche con Tostones – Fish marinated in lime juice, jalapeno, red peppers, avocado, red onion and served with tostones. First of all, you can’t go wrong with tostones in my book. The fish was perfectly marinated and limey just how I like it.

A must have on this menu is the empanadas, they come in multiple variations but we decided to stick with the classic Novecento hand carved beef recipe. They were full to the brim with such a flavorful mix of beef and wrapped in a perfectly fried blanket.

On to the main event – the entrée! I ordered the Lomo A La Parrilla – Grilled beef tenderloin, Malbec demi-glace, sweet potato puree, arugula, radicchio. This is essentially two filet’s – totally shareable and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The demi-glace adds a richness to the tenderloin.

Here’s where the twist comes in. There are a few items on the menu that are Italian inspired, like the Ravioles Cuatro Quesos – house made four cheese ravioli, creamy parmesan or pink sauce (vodka sauce). We ordered ours with the vodka sauce. The ravioli are pretty big and totally packed with delicious filling. The flavor of the sauce was on point and it was the perfect amount to accompany the already delicious ravioli.

My favorite part – dessert. We ordered the dulce de leche soufflé. This is essentially a dulce de leche lava cake. I think on the menu it comes with banana ice cream but we tried it with vanilla. SO GOOD.
