X Ambassadors and Skylar Grey Rock Out for iHeartRadio at The Redbury
By Ariana Cade
Hours before their sold out concert in Los Angeles as part of The VHS Tour, X Ambassadors stopped by the Redbury in Hollywood to open for Grammy nominated artist, Skylar Grey, in a private outdoor concert hosted by iHeartRadio. Skylar Grey featured X Ambassadors in her song Cannonball and has been on tour with them. X Ambassadors played several of their popular songs including “Unsteady” and “Renegades” which ranked number 1 in Billboard’s Alternative Chart and number 17 in Billboard’s Hot 100 before they made their way out.
Although they couldn’t stick around to sing “Cannonball” with Skylar Grey, they made time in between songs to talk about their personal experiences since their song has hit the charts. The band talked about how thrilled they were to see Alicia Keys in their audience at the Bowery Ballroom several weeks back and how unreal it had felt to meet her, they even went to Facebook to post a picture of them with “the Queen of NYC.”
Once X Ambassadors had made their way off the stage, the incredibly talented Skylar Grey made an entrance looking incredibly comfortable as always with a hoodie and her hair in a bun. After singing both her part and Sam Harris’s part for “Cannonball” she talked briefly about her song “Moving Mountains”.
She stated that it was her favorite song on the album because she felt that it was the most raw, authentic version of music. She explains that the song is about slowing down and learning to love the moment and was inspired to write it when she had moved to Utah. Big thanks go out to iHeartRadio and Alt 98.7 for showcasing two rising artists in a glamorous setting. It’s one that I won’t forget anytime soon.
