Unione Consorzi Vini Veneti DOC Wines at Serafina
By Leah Alfieri
Nestled in the Meatpacking District is Serafina, a cozy Italian restaurant and host of the cocktail reception for U.Vi.Ve, short for Unione Consorzi Vini Veneti DOC, a collection of fantastic wines from Italy.
Every year, Serafina and Veneto team up for this annual holiday celebration—a big treat for wine lovers. From the moment I entered, the room was buzzing with excitement as stylish New Yorkers rushed to get their first taste of one of Unione Consorzi Vini Veneti‘s popular wines. The event boasted a wide range of Italian varietals—reds, whites, desserts, and sparkling wines alike—promising a full night of sipping, discussing, and enjoying.
While all of Unione Consorzi Vini Veneti’s wines that I sampled were exceptional, one of the standouts to me was the Lugana White. It was light and dry, with a touch of minerality. The unique flavor is a result of the grapes being grown and harvested near a lake, the very friendly bartender informed me.
The Bardolino Classic Red was a crowd favorite. This easy drinking red was the kind of wine that you want to pair with just about anything. However, this wasn’t a boring blend. Each sip of this wine offered a distinctive rustic note on the attack (the first moment of tasting), keeping things interesting. Even though it would work with any kind of food, to me, it was the kind of flavorful wine that works well all by itself.
Truffle Honey and Cheese pair exquisitely with All Wine. Available on Amazon:
The event was classy, charming, and overflowing with wine connoisseurs—three ingredients that guarantee a lovely evening. This month,Unione Consorzi Vini Veneti will be showcasing their wines for the very first time in Miami. Check them out for beautiful wines with a great reputation in both America and abroad!
