Traymore Brunch Review – COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach

Since enjoying the Gin Bar on more than one occasion, I was delighted to be invited back to experience The Traymore Brunch Menu at elegant COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach. The hotel’s soft grey and cream décor extends to The Traymore Restaurant, where comfy booths and marble dining tables are set wide apart under a tall ceiling creating a grand and tranquil atmosphere.

Before our meal, my brunch mate and I were presented with a chilled, rolled towel to refresh from the hot outside temperature. The cold cloth was infused with the boutique hotel spa’s, COMO Shambhala Urban Escape, signature oil, Invigorate -An uplifting blend of Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lavender and Geranium.

After being so thoroughly relaxed by this thoughtful treatment, we were curious about the clean Spa Cuisine as well as the indulgent Traymore brunch Menu, and decided to order from both.  But, first, we needed Funday Sunday drinks.

My friend went for the G&T Sangria a potent combination of gin, red wine and tonic water. I could not resist the Met Breakfast Martini -Hayman’s gin, Combier orange liqueur with a spoonful of strawberry preserve that sinks to the bottom of the glass, and garnished with a curled lemon peel. The best breakfast I ever drank.

First, I started with the Traymore’s decadent Maine Lobster Toast – Chunky lobster salad mixed in a savory mayonnaise with dill and capers on top of a crunchy sourdough crostini. Next, Brioche French Toast – Two grilled, thick and buttery brioche bread slices served with tangy passionfruit curd and homemade syrup.

My healthier-minded companion opted for the spa menu’s chilled Green Goddess Soup -Puréed leafy dark green, iron-rich Spinach with Seaweed-C.

Followed up by the beautiful Grilled Fennel-spiced Salmon with cauliflower, quinoa and pomegranate tabbouleh with a dollop of smoky eggplant puree.

COMO Shambhala Cuisine advocates local, organically sourced ingredients wherever possible. The menu selections feature very little salt, avoids the use of processed sugar, and substitutes cows’ milk with blended nut and rice milk.

For desserts, we sampled the spa’s Mock Cheese Cake –Creamy Mango and Passionfruit Mousse on a deliciously dense Banana and Macadamia Nut Crust topped with fresh seasonal Berries and slivers of young Coconut, and Traymore’s Iles Flotants (Floating islands) – A classic French dish of soft and feathery light meringue islands floating in a pool of Vanilla Bean crème anglaise.

Gratefully, both equally-enjoyed menus served conservative portions that left us feeling comfortably satisfied, yet deliciously indulged.
