TikiFish Brings a New Poke Stop to Palms in West LA
To Angelinos, Poke is nothing new. But TikiFish, located off Overland and Rose in West LA, offers a fresh take on a thriving trend. Created by Chefs Wonny Lee (formerly from Hamasuku) and Ulises Pineda-Alfaro (formerly from Plan Check), TikiFish stays true to traditional Hawaiian and Mexican seafood. This poke stop does not disappoint.
Here are a few TikiFish bowls you’ll want to taste.
If you are a poke newbie, I recommend you start with Tiki Tuna bowl. This bowl comes with tuna, onions, scallions, sesame seeds, and seaweed, all served on a bed of rice. Definitely one of my favorites.
If you want tuna with a bit more of a kick, check out the Spicy Tiki Tuna Bowl. It is made with ground tuna, cucumber, rice, ponzu, and shredded nori. The spice of the tuna is balanced nicely by the cool cucumber and sweet rice.
If tuna isn’t your thing, don’t worry because the Wiki Salmon Bowl is for you. Made with rice, jalapeno, cilantro, corn, green onion, and salmon. I am not usually a fan of salmon, so I wasn’t expecting to like this bowl, but I was so glad to be wrong. The flavor profile in the Wiki Salmon bowl eliminates the fishy taste that salmon can sometimes carry. It is sweet and delicious.
Another delicious tuna bowl? The Aloha Albacore. This bowl is filled with ginger, onions, cucumber, rice, and of course, albacore tuna. This traditional bowl is definitely a customer favorite.
If you prefer ceviche to poke, TikiFish has you covered. Their Mexican ceviche, served with a few tortilla chips, made me feel like I was back in Miami. Fresh and light, this snapper is served with onions and tomatoes.
Wash it all down with a delicious Agua Fresca. This drink literally tastes like a vacation. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the islands. It is made with pineapple, passion fruit, guava, watermelon, and orange juice. I could drink this forever.
Basically, even if you think you are a poke pro, you haven’t tasted poke like this before. Head over to TikiFish in Palms as soon as you can!
