Thai Experience Review – Fun, Insightful & Deelish
I usually ignore TripAdvisor’s number one restaurant because it is a far cry from the best, but when perusing the Koh Samui Thailand page the number one did catch my eye. The Thai Experience on the island of Koh Samui is a stupendous time. Think of it as a Professional dinner party for strangers.
People are picked up from their hotels in a posh bus and dropped off at a closed door restaurant. We are greeted with a drink and then asked to put on funny hats and aprons to lighten the mood.
Ivan was our host and rocked it! He was funny, astute and very affable. Our group was incredible too, very open and fun with people cracking jokes all night.
We began with a cocktail making course to loosen everybody up. We made cocktails for our neighbor, so of course I made it extra strong. There are 3 options to choose from that are then available from the Open bar all night long. They are happy to make them as strong and as spicy as you desire. I chose the Mango libation and made it spicy.
The Thai Experience is a 3 course meal, but there are multiple dishes in every course. Leaving hungry is not really a plausible possibility. The cuisine is meant to show you the range of some of the best Thai dishes, but some are modified to reflect modern cooking techniques as well as Western preferences.
The evening also offers lessons that are insightful, engaging and comedic. You will learn about Thai culture and food while pounding awesome food and drinks.
From the 3 different appetizers the Spicy Isaan Pork was by far my favorite.
We then proceeded to make our own dipping sauce for the skewers delivered to our table to be shared family style. These were crispy fish skewers. It is great sitting next to polite Brits since they insist you take the last skewer. They also served Tom Kha Gai, the creamy coconut soup and this version was exquisite.

Then the delectable onslaught of main courses began with a truckload of food delivered family style to our table. The Green Curry was my favorite from this batch.
The desserts were modified since typical Thai desserts are not so tasty.
The Thai Experience was scrumptious, fun and educational. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is going to Koh Samui. You can find out more and book your reservation by clicking here.
