Terrine Los Angeles – An Exemplary California Brasserie

As you step in through the door of 8265 Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles neighborhood, Beverly Grove, you’ll begin to realize you’re in a location not quite like any other in town. Lively California Brasserie, Terrine Los Angeles, known for their rustic food and inviting back patio, serves up a lot more than their famous charcuterie and French-inspired dishes for brunch on weekends. They have a wide variety of options —- both at the bar as well as the kitchen —- that will leave you both satiated and satisfied.
A brunch without liquor is just a sad late breakfast, so thankfully Terrine has an ample bounty of delightful libations to start your week off with boozy smiles. Mimosas have been a longtime staple of brunch, and while you can opt for a glass (or 5) at Terrine Los Angeles, you have many more cocktails to choose from including Mr. Menotti’s Cold Coffee Grog. We’re not quite sure who Mr. Menotti is or was, but he has great taste in rum. Ryan Wainwright created this drink that features three different rums, cold brew coffee, and vanilla fernet, which was our top choice for day drinking. The coffee, rums and whip cream on top made the whole table do the happy dance.
Now that you’ve had your shot of energy, prepare yourself and your friends for a culinary experience unlike any other. Not for the faint of heart, the off menu Terrine Burger is where you should start your journey and work your way into the menu from there. Since brunching it family style is the best way to sample their offerings, try to share that burger with your table. You will be tempted not to, thanks to the truffled butter and cheese aioli, and foie gras as the flavors combine and literally melt together onto the patty, but remember there is a lot more to be had at Terrine.
Other favorite options at Terrine Los Angeles include the deliciously made Huevos Resaca, Spicy Friend Chicken and Grits, and the Terrine Benedict. These are Mexican and American classics which have been remixed perfectly to fit the warmth of their traditionally French kitchen. The Huevos had perfectly cooked tortilla crisps and huge sunny side up eggs complemented by a banging housemade chorizo, Cotija cheese, cilantro, pinto and ranchera sauce. The varying flavors and textures of this beautiful plate were a tasty fiesta in our mouths.
The Terrine Benedict with crispy veal tongue, chive hollandaise, spinach and a housemade english muffin was a truly unique Benedict. The tongue on its own was marvelous, but incorporating it with gooey eggs heightened the flavor. A standout surprise came by way of the Spicy Fried Chicken and Grits, which had scallions and maple syrup lightly poured over the dish. You get the feeling you’re eating chicken and waffles sans all the guilt of ingesting so many carbs! Winning…
Feel free to celebrate such a feat by reordering some spirits with either the refreshing Prairie Fire Punch Cocktail or the smooth and elegant Counter Point Sling. Both were on point and helped us wash down this epic brunch.
No meal is complete without dessert, so save the Pain Perdu for the grand finale. The combination of sea salt and caramel frosting over the vanilla flavored french toast, is just heavenly.
The Terrine brunch blew us away and we were barely able to put a dent in the menu. The delectable depth and breadth of their fare will entice you to keep coming back to the patio to devour a new set of goodies. We have heard stupendous chatter about their regular and late night menus as well, so will have to return soon to sample them. Terrine Los Angeles is open for brunch on Friday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3:00 pm.
