SUSHISamba Hosts Robata Rub Thursdays
There are few things more “Miami” than a late night, good food, strong drinks, and… a Real Housewives of Miami star. (¡Dale!) And thanks to SUSHISAMBA Coral Gables’ summer “Robata Rub Thursdays” Guest Host Series, our hot August Thursday brought just that — plus pro grilling and BBQ tips from the restaurant’s chef-extraordinaire, David Sears, who mans SUSHISamba’s authentic Japanese robata grill, the only one in all of the Magic City.
Kicking off the series in late July with guest host Terry Zarikian, Culinary Director of New York Wine & Food Festival and Culinary Advisor of South Beach Wine & Food Festival, this new summer must-try event will take place every other Thursday night through the beginning of September. With each new installment will come a renowned guest chef: like our host of the evening, Ana Quincoces, a Real Housewives of Miami star and the famous creator of “Skinny Latina Million Dollar Marinade.”
As for the menu? Well, that was even more impressive.
In between BBQ secrets, marinade and rub recipes, grill tips and Q&A’s with both David and Ana, we and the other 17 participants enjoyed five courses of moan-worthy robata favorites like only this winning duo could whip up. With the exception of two of the restaurant’s signature Ocucaje Peruvian Pisco Cocktails, the menu changes every time. We had Grilled Hass Avocado, Alaskan Crab Leg, Sausage Anticucho, Robata Grilled Skirt Steak and Grilled Summer Peaches… and we regret nothing.
If you’re looking for a fun, tasty and informative alternative to Miami Spice on mainland Miami, give SUSHISamba’s “Robata Rub Thursdays” Guest Host Series a try. Next up: Telemundo’s official chef and co-host of “Un Nuevo Dia,” James Tahhan (August 27th), and the official smoke whisperer of Miami Smokers, Andres Barrientos (September 17th).
SUSHISamba Coral Gables is located in the Westin Colonnade Hotel, at 180 Aragon Avenue. For more information about this series, call (305) 448-4990.
