Steak 954 Cocktails on Fort Lauderdale Beach
It’s easy to overlook the Steak 954 cocktails for the steakhouse’s excellent selection of flash grilled steaks, including a phenomenal American Wagyu Cheesesteak –with truffled cheese whiz and foie gras served along with a split of champagne that I continue to rave about to this day. Read dinner review.
Equally impressive are Steak 954’s fresh and clean seafood dishes. I count this Fort Lauderdale Beach restaurant, helmed by Chef de Cuisine Nicolay Adinaguez and housed in the ocean-fronted stylish W Hotel, as among the very best in South Florida.
However, on a quintessential beautiful Florida evening with a view of the sun setting on the beach, I attended a tasting of the Steak 954 cocktails crafted by members of the bar staff.
We all loved the Peppery Monk – a tangy and spicy cocktail made from blanco tequila in a sugar-rimmed coupe glass that gets extra sweet heat from housemade candied Fresno Chili as a floating garnish. A Latin-influenced take of the classic Lemon Drop Martini.

Add:
1.5 Cazadores Reposado Tequila
0.5 Green Chartreuse – a naturally green herbal liqueur historically produced by French Carthusian monks.
0.75 Lemon, freshly squeezed
.075 Honey-Fresno Chili syrup, (housemade by Steak 954)
Prepare:
Fringe the rim a coupe glass with white sugar.
Shake ingredients.
Double strain into sugar-rimmed glass.
An admitted Old Fashioned fan, I especially fancied the burnt butter flavor of the RumFashioned – aged dark rum base is further sweetened with raw cane sugar, and flavored with a dual of bitters, traditional herb and fruit-based.

Add:
2 Ron Zacapa 23 Year Old Solera Rum
0.25 Demerara Simple Syrup
2 dashes of Peach Bitters
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Orange Peel
Prepare:
Muddle bitters, syrup and orange peel in a rock glass.
Add large ice sphere, -a big ice cube allows your drink to stay colder longer and not water down so fast.
Pour two shot of rum, and stir.
Along with our Steak 954 cocktails, we enjoyed raw bar and seafood appetizers such as ocean fresh Jumbo Lump Crab, Big Eye Tuna Tacos with Foie Gras, and a luscious and decadent Lobster & Crab Ceviche mixed with pickled shreds of fresh Coconut.
