SOBEWFF – Red Robin Best of the Burger Bash
Everyone loves a good burger. So imagine going to SOBE’s Wine and Food Festival Burger Bash event…. tent after tent of burgers! Burgers from local restaurants, and burgers from out of state. Burgers everywhere, including Red Robin’s delicious, gourmet burgers! There is absolutely no way you’re leaving with an empty stomach.
Red Robin put a twist on this years Burger Bash event. Instead of serving their classic burgers, Red Robin decided to hold a competition amongst several FIU students and present the winning burger in the festival. Not only did the lucky student get to serve their burger to the public, they also received a $10,000 scholarship! You honestly can’t beat that.
You can’t eat a burger without having a beer, right? Well, Red Robin also held a competition of craft beers created by fellow FIU students. The winner presented their beer at the festival and received $2500! Pretty great opportunity if you ask me, and very generous of Red Robin to provide this opportunity.
I was lucky enough to visit Red Robin’s tent and personally meet with the winners of the burger and beer competition. The winning burger was created by our own native Given Suman. He named his creation the ‘305 burger,’ which had ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, a mango mustard spread, all in between buttery buns and fried in more buttery goodness. If that doesn’t scream Miami, I don’t know what does.
The winners of the beer competition were Mauricio and Adam. They created a Mandarin flavored beer which was smooth, light, and delicious. I don’t normally like beer but mandarin beer was da bomb. So impressed that these guys created such an amazing product! Gotta give it up for my fellow FIU students!
If that wasn’t enough to make you fall in love with Red Robin and what they do, well they took it a step further. The overall winner from Burger Bash got the chance to have their burger featured on Red Robin’s menu and won $10,000! The lucky winner was the Marmaduke Burger created by Tucker Duck’s Lunchbox. The burger was made from a chuck and brisket blend patty, topped with bacon and fig chutney, melted brie fondue, shaved red onions and arugula. Everything about that burger sounds so right!
Everyone had a blast judging the competition and eating burger after burger. Red Robin truly shows the public what a great organization they are, and what great products they stand behind. They cater gourmet burgers at an affordable price. They make their high-end products available to everyone, and that is the best part… we don’t have to sacrifice taste and value for our wallets.
