Rust Wynwood – New Globally Inspired Bistro
Wynwood seems to be a favorite spot for foodies, with plenty of good restaurants offering quality dishes. Rust Wynwood recently joined the gang of restaurants and was nice enough to open their doors to us. Rust Wynwood is perfectly situated within Wynwood Block. They specialize in small plates and shareable dishes made with international flavors and quality ingredients.
We started off with the croquetas de campo. Perfectly fried balls made of Uruguayan sausage and topped with an aioli sauce. At first glance the croquetas seem a bit on the smaller size, but the amount of flavor they had was enough to bypass their size. The presentation was simple and delicate, but perfectly balanced with a salad of fresh arugula.
Next came the mushroom fries. These were by far the best of the night! I would definitely order these again and highly recommend getting them. They’re a must have! These delicious fries were topped with a truffled Gorgonzola and mushroom sauce. That sauce….. it was just too good, good enough to lick off the plate. But I controlled myself! Needless to say, there was not one fry left behind.
Mmmm octopus! I looooove octopus, and although this one was a bit charred it was still flavorful. The grilled octopus came on a bed of provencal potatoes, and drizzled piquillo pepper aioli. The aioli paired perfectly with the octopus, adding a creamy touch to the dish. Beautiful presentation at first glance.
Next came the beef tartine. This dish came with provolone cheese, arugula, sweet tomatoes, mushrooms, beef tenderloin, and a lemon grass balsamic reduction. All atop a thick piece of fresh, soft bread. The reduction was very flavorful, it paired well with the dish. However, the beef was a bit dry so perhaps some extra sauce would’ve been perfect to bring everything together.
To wash down all the food we got the mojito and passion fruit sangrias. The passion fruit sangria was by far the best. This is another item I would definitely order again. It was sweet and soooo good! Wish I was sipping on one right about now!
Last but not least… dessert! It may not seem like much, but man was this dish amazing! We tried the dulce de leche panqueques. Ahhh I could eat these again! The light crepes were generously filled with dulce de leche and topped with vanilla ice cream. Nothing better than biting into a warm crepe and cold ice cream. A perfect end to the night.
Rust is the best!!!!!!!!
