PM Fish and Steak House Miami – A Bit of Paradise in Brickell Village

PM Fish and Steak House Miami–A Bit of Paradise in Brickell Village

By Jordan Elbaum

The grand feeling you get as you’re walking into PM Fish and Steak House Miami is overwhelming in the best way. The first thing you see is the Argentinian steakhouse’s huge, almost floor to ceiling wine cellar – and I thought to myself, well this is a good sign! My boyfriend and I chose a Thursday night and sat outside in the beautiful garden patio and lounge.

There is a pond, with a water fountain, reflecting a bit of paradise that is PM Fish and Steak House Miami. Beautiful trees create an enchanting setting among the mix of lounge and table seating areas and the bar. One of the things I really liked about the garden was that it had a spandex covering over the top to create a ceiling. Together, with all sorts of trees bordering the patio, you felt like you were somewhere else, and not in the middle of a bunch of concrete buildings in Brickell.

At our table, we were welcomed with an assorted bread basket filled with Sun Dried Tomato Bread, Olive Focaccia, crunchy Bread Sticks and white French Bread- but that’s not even the best part! Along with the bread basket came unexpected little silver cups of garlic butter, plain butter, red adobo, chimmichurri and salsa verde sauces.

If there is any way to my heart it’s through bread and sauces. The Chimmichurri had great flavor and wasn’t too oily as some can be, and the Salsa Verde was everything I wanted it to be, full of garlic and not too cilantro tasting.

Don’t worry, we didn’t forget the cocktails! I ordered the Tierra de Fuego –a Jalapeno-infused Caipirinha, made with muddled Limes and Passion Fruit Puree. So good that I had to remind myself to slow down!

Our server was very helpful in giving us suggestions as to what we should order for our appetizer. We decided on their signature dish – the Grilled Octopus, simply seared in Olive Oil and Salt, and paired with duo sauces of Red Adobo and Salsa Verde.

I was actually really hesitant to order this for a couple of reasons, but mainly because I know octopus can be very tough and chewy if not done correctly. But, cutting into the octopus was like slicing into butter; extremely tender and sweet tasting as well. Least to say, I had no regrets.

We also decided to order the Crab and Lobster Rolls because who can turn down a the combo of thin Tuna Rolls filled with Crab Meat and Maine Lobster, Shallots, Capers and a touch of Black Pepper.

The fun part about these is that they come with chopsticks! Fresh tasting and delicious the rolls come with a balsamic emulsion on the plate as well as a soy balsamic mix on the side for dipping.

For our entrée we ordered the Argentinean-style Skirt Steak which comes out served on a hot griddle plate. The meat had a great intense flavor, but I suggest requesting the steak plated, since it will continue to cook if left sitting on the serving griddle at the table.

As a side, we had to try the soufflé potatoes because they sounded so fun. They were crispy, salty and delicious just as I suspected, plus it came with a cheese dipping sauce on the side.

Deciding on dessert is probably one of the hardest decisions for me because I want it all. Our server was so sweet to make us a sampler plate of the Alfajor Puff Pastry layered with Caramel and topped with Pecans, and the Cheesecake.

Though we couldn’t eat another bite, we graciously agreed to try their after dinner cocktail, Carajillo. A server brought over a little side table full of all of the makings – Espresso and a golden liqueur from Spain, Cuarenta y Tres. She shook it tableside and poured it into nice big short-stemmed glasses. It tasted like a better iced coffee – very good!

Needless to say, I will be back to try everything else I wanted to but didn’t have a big enough room for!
