Pet Friendly Miami Vacation – SLS South Beach Hotel
My opportunity to stay at SLS South Beach on Miami Beach was made extra special as I was able to bring my beloved dog, Woodzy, along with me to this pet friendly Miami hotel. Although, it was I who came to be indulged by the luxury accommodation’s brand new guest amenity – a surprise in-room prepared Nitrogen-frozen Caipirinha, dubbed #SipLiquorSlowly, my rescued Chihuahua mix was treated like a prince.
Like me, he was excited to see a king-sized bed covered with thick duvet, Egyptian cotton sheets and a pile of comfy pillows in our all-white room, designed by Philippe Stark. To enjoy our ‘Premier Ocean View’, my pampered pooch simply lounged on the room-length white leather chaise.
We do not often recommend Dog Toys, but when we do it is for the coolest dogs in the world and Amazon:
Once we settled in our room, we headed down through the back of the lobby to reach the hotel’s beautiful pool area. Alongside the property, there is a gated passage way leading to Beach Walk, a brick-laid walking path between the resorts and the wide, sandy beach. Here, with doggie bag stations and plenty of water fountains along the way, we enjoyed a good, long walk.
Dogs, however, are not allowed on the beach, but Woodzy could not resist.
While sampling the most unique tapas plates at the hotel’s restaurants, The Bazaar by Jose Andres, I had a perfectly grilled Cuban Coffee Rubbed Churrasco in a light zesty Passion Fruit Sauce with Grilled Onions. Thinking of my four-legged gourmand left upstairs, I requested a to-go box, and cut up half of the delicious steak to bring up to him later. As an after-dinner option, I considered using the complimentary SLS town car service to drop us off at the far end of the nearby Lincoln Road Mall. During the walk back to our pet friendly Miami hotel on this pedestrian road, we could have window-shopped and seen a variety of street performers.
Woodzy, however, preferred to breathe in the wonderful night’s sea air, feel the soft sand between his toes, and feel the ocean breeze across his nose.
The next day, I went down for breakfast buffet on the lobby’s bar. My favorite selections included a creamy, but firm Pineapple Panna Cotta, fresh warm Almond and Chocolate Croissants, and delicious thin slices of Spanish Jamón Serrano Ham and nutty Manchego Cheese.
On the healthier side of my plate, I added fresh Tropical Fruits, and rich Greek Yogurt topped with Guava Gelee and Coconut Tapioca.
The breakfast bar also had a wonderful selection of Agua Frescas. Spanish for fresh water, these light non-alcoholic Mexican beverages are made with fresh fruit, flowers or rice that is blended with sugar and water. My favorite served that morning was the dark raspberry-colored and tangy Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus Flower Water).
As Woodzy’s stomach doesn’t always traveling. but loves soothing Greek Yogurt, I brought him a jar to add to his dog-appropriate breakfast.
The pet fee for my stay was $150, but they have a variety of specials which can offset this charge, such as the Flight Credit and Daily Breakfast promotion. The special offers guests a $150 Flight credit for a future trip – on any airline – any destination – any time. For the full details, visit: slshotels.com/southbeach/specials
