Miami YVE-nings
Miami YVE-nings is a new monthly event held at the YVE Hotel to celebrate the many artists Miami has to offer. Each series of the YVE-nings events will feature various artwork, such as that of Charly Silva and Fabia Nitti to name a few, which is provided by the ACA Art Center. The event also features live performances by different artists. I was lucky enough to witness a performance by the very talented jazz artist Zoe Fromer. There will also be tastings of the new menu from Biscayne Tavern, the restaurant conveniently situated on the first floor of the hotel.
Upon entering the hotel lobby, I was generously greeted with a dragonfruit cocktail and some tastings from the Biscayne Tavern menu. The first thing you see is the art on display and some integrated into the decoration of the hotel itself.
I got to speak to one of the artists, Charly Silva, about his work. Charly is a Colombian native that studied mechanical engineering but came to Miami several years ago to pursue his dream of creating art. He has since created various pieces of art, which are sold for several thousand dollars a piece. His most famous piece amongst the females is the ‘Fortaleza,’ which took him four days to complete and is worth $1,200. The deep red color of this metal painted sculpture seems to win over women’s hearts.
Other artwork on display was that of Fabia Nitti, a Venezuelan artist. The piece entitled ‘Luck’ is a sculpture of blue metallic color that is worth $6,000. Another of his sculptures, perhaps the biggest at the event, was ‘Forest’ which came in at $16,000. The abstract pieces are perfect if you are looking to add a modern touch to any room.
Also on display was the acrylic work by Kiseok Kim, ‘Plastic Series.’ This was probably my favorite piece. The huge doll eyes and soft features of the girl on the canvas just capture your attention.
I got to meet the director of Sales and Marketing at the YVE hotel, Lori Kendall, who was generous enough to personally show me some of the rooms the YVE hotel has to offer. Right next to Bayside, and minutes away from Brickell and South Beach, the YVE hotel is one of its kind catering to savvy travelers. Anyone traveling to Miami could easily get around to the most visited areas of the vibrant city from the hotel. If the location itself wasn’t perfect enough, the views from the rooms and the rooms themselves are amazing. Each room has a modern vibe that invites travelers from all over the world.
Overall, I was pleased to have seen such amazing art work and meet with the people making the event possible. Looks like the YVE hotel has some promising growth in its future and the support of many behind its concept.
