Louie Bossi Review – Impressive Italian Fare & Flair
Once you have dined around Italy it is hard to be impressed by an American Italian restaurant, but Louie Bossi Ristorante, Bar and Pizzeria is a fantastic Italian experience. All of their pasta, bread, gelatos, pastries and cookies are made in-house daily and you will be able to taste it. Louie Bossi is nestled right on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, so you can dine outside amongst all the madness. They also have a large and gorgeous outdoor area in the back that is my recommended seating if the weather permits.
The energy in Louie Bossi is palpable. The restaurant was packed when I dined and brimming with vibrant energy that made you smile. If you are craving some supple Italian wine definitely start with the Baby Amarone, Palazzo Della Torre, Allegrini, Veneteo. Amarone is my absolute favorite and this smooth, bold and beautiful red is only $15 a glass.
If you want to be bold or have a deep appetite then start with the both the Salumi and the Formaggio, but be warned it may fill you up swiftly with their generous portions. For the Salumi go with the Picante and Prosciutto di Parma.
For the Formaggio we loved the Parmigiano Reggiano, Tartufo and the Mozzarella. Please use the Truffle Honey they serve it with. It will elevate your cheese to the heavens.
The Pizza here is marvelous! We got the Piccante that came with spicy salami, fior di latte & peppadews (sweet lil peppers). Have them bring out the truffle honey for the pizza as well and I promise you will never be able to eat pizza again without it. The crust was perfection, soft, tangible yet crunchy and the sweet and spicy mix entwined with the truffle will astound you. Pictured here is the Margarita pizza, so just imagine it with salami and little red peppers.
For dessert try both the gelato and the sorbet. The Blood Orange Sorbet with basil was captivating and their pistachio gelato is made with ingredients from Italy and tastes just like the real thing.
Louie Bossi is truly an impressive joint. The energy, service, ambiance, fresh ingredients and dedication to Italian cuisine make this a very worthwhile drive to from Miami or anywhere else in Florida. I shall hopefully be back for round 2 to try more of their extensive and marvelous menu.
