Louie Bossi Fort Lauderdale – Brunching in Italian
Louie Bossi Fort Lauderdale seems in constant celebration mode. No less so during my ‘Funday Sunday’ visit to the charming Italian ristorante on popular Las Olas Boulevard. Seated on the back patio, I felt I was attending a festive Summer dinner on the lawn. There were bridal showers and birthday parties as well as new moms and family get-togethers; all creating an exciting roar.
No doubt the fantastic menu and service makes Louie Bossi so popular.
Me and my toy dog, Woodzy, and a friend and fellow dog mommy were ready for a leisurely brunch. We began with breakfast pastries – Scones and Bombolini along with the classic Funday Sunday cocktail, Processo and fresh Orange Juice.
The soft and thick triangle-shaped Scones were colorfully loaded with diced glazed fruit peels; a mix of orange peel, citron peel, lemon peel, cherries, and pineapple. The faintly sugary biscuits were characteristically accompanied by vaguely sour, yet sweet and thick Clotted Cream and real Strawberry Jam.
As if this weren’t heavenly enough, the Bombolone, a large Italian-style fried and filled doughnut, comes with either Custard or Cannoli Cream fillings, or Chocolate Glazed. An impossible choice for sure, but we were ‘Brunching in Itailan’. So, the rich and creamy Cannoli, a sweeten ricotta cheese filling, was the ultimate request. The giant powder sugar dusted donut was as soft as a pillow.
Along with ubiquitous ‘Unlimited’ Mimosas, Louie Bossi Fort Lauderdale also offers ‘Endless Bloody Marys’ and ‘Bottomless Bossi Bellinis’, (Prosecco and fresh Peach Puree).
For Brunch entrees, our savory choice was the Scrambled Eggs on Avocado Toast – Fluffy Cage-Free Eggs topped with freshly grated Parmesan Cheese on Butter-grilled Artisan Bread slathered with mashed buttery Avocados, and served with an Arugula and Tomato Salad. This has to be the best version ever of the trendy brunch dish.
Our decadent breakfast choice was the Ricotta Crespelle. The three folded, thin pancakes were light and slightly sweet, and filled with creamy Mascarpone Cheese and topped with tangy, yet sweet and thick Lemon Curd and fresh Florida Strawberries. Ordinary pancakes and waffles now seem so boring compared to this rich Italian-style crepe dish.
To end our fabulous day spent at Louie Bossi’s, I saved room for the very light coffee-based dessert, Affogato –A shot of hot Espresso is served to pour over a scoop of Homemade Vanilla Bean Gelato, and served with Mixed Fruit Peel Biscotti.
