French’s Bakery Review
I recently made a quick stop at a local bakery in Orange County called French’s Bakery just to see what kind of sweet treats that awaited me inside. What surprised me was not the sight of a wide selection of delectable looking goodies just waiting to be picked, but the smell that slammed into your body and demanded to be noticed, it was intoxicating! You could smell all the different goods that must have just been pulled out of the oven, from the golden pastries and fluffy bread to the decorative cookies and cupcakes. It reminded me of when my mom would bake cookies every year at christmas and how the whole house would smell like one enormous pastry.
It excited me to experience how the food tasted! When I walked up to the counter the friendly and courteous staff made sure to ask if I had any questions about any of the products that were on display and when I had decided on what I was going to order, which included a giant Chocolate and Powdered Sugar Covered Cream Puff, a mini Strawberry Fruit Tart, and a Chocolate Covered Cheesecake, I was again caught off guard by the price of all of these delicious looking desserts. I was thinking it would be around twelve dollars or so but it ended up being just around seven dollars. The cream puff was a perfect combination of sweet and savory with a slightly crunchy shell and a light and airy creamy center that melted in your mouth.
The Fruit Tart was my favorite item that I purchased because it had a fresh strawberry on top in a glaze with a slightly sour filling that perfectly complimented the sweetness of the strawberry.
Finally, I made my way to the Chocolate Covered Cheesecake which I thought might be just a little bit too sweet for my taste but was pleasantly surprised when I bite into the cake and was greeted by the moist and subtle chocolate taste. the main component was the cheesecake hidden underneath which was silky smooth with a sweet aftertaste that left you wanting more.
Also if you are looking for a slightly bigger dessert for a birthday or other special occasion French’s also makes cakes with stunning details including rosette and floral designs to name a couple.
During my visit I also found out that French’s is celebrating their fiftieth anniversary and I can definitely see why, from the smell as you walk in to the friendly and genuine goodbye as you walk out their doors this bakery will be around for a long time to come. I would recommend French’s to anyone who is a fanatic for sugary sweets and delectable treats, you will find something to please even the pickiest eaters.
