Feastown at Eastown: Hollywood’s Bi-Monthly Night Market Showcases Rising Stars in the Culinary Community

Southern California has seen its fair share of foodie events and festivals, but none have hit the “cool factor” like Feastown at Eastown, Hollywood’s newest and most anticipated bi-monthly night pop-up market featuring some of the hottest food stands around today and talented local performers.

Feastown Market is located in the heart of Hollywood at Eastown, a thriving residential community that is committed to offer a comprehensive foodie experience that stays true to Hollywood’s neighborhood appeal.

In addition to the amazing vendors, Feastown Market has partnered with Hollywood’s own The Center at Blesses Sacrament Church and Los Angeles College of Music to present a new take on what a “night market” in hopes of bringing the community closer together.

On a gorgeous Saturday evening in Hollywood, Feastown started their legacy and I was happy to sample some of their amazing vendors.

It was decided to start over at the Brothecary food stand, specializing in Bone Broth, Dumplings and Dim Sum. The aromas coming from the tent were completely alluring. Using family recipes, the ingredients are all natural and its very apparent that nutrition and flavor are main priorities.

We tried the Crispy Chicken Dumplings. Savory, fragrant with an enjoyable chewiness, this was the way I anticipated starting things off.

Having developed a thirst and with hearing great things through the grapevine, Creativi-Tea was sure to be the next destination on our culinary tour of Feastown. All drinks are thoughtfully crafted as if they were being made in a science laboratory. Creator of Creativi-Tea, Anthony Lu, has used his childhood experience in Taipei, Taiwan as well as his knowledge accumulated while being a food influencer in LA’s food industry to bring forth a passion project that the public is raving about.

After pondering over their menu for a moment, I decided to try the Instagram Lemonade, and it was delivered with a picturesque, beautifully layered sequence of colors. It is almost a shame that has to shaken up, but the blend of flavors and colors combines to create a lovely medley that refreshes and cuts through all the savory eats.

With beverage in hand, I made my way over to Sunny Blue, a food booth that specializes in one of Japan’s favorite foods to snack on the go, Omusubi. Omusubi are rice balls with different fillings inside and normally wrapped in Nori (seaweed) or other options. Sunny Blue is very proud to be the only Omusubi store in Southern California, made fresh daily!

I sampled the Omusubi filled with chicken and felt I need to try more of their offerings. The rice was cooked just right and encased some of the tastiest chicken I have had in a long while. The nori held and lent its oceanic flavor to create an experience that can only be had at Sunny Blue.

With Japan on the brain, I moved on to try the picturesque and original Norigami Tacos, getting it’s name from the use of Nori (seaweed) fried in tempura and folded (like origami) to create a sturdy and crispy “taco shell” holding some of their tastiest Japanese ingredients.

The Mr. Krabs taco is a soft shell crab fried to perfection placed inside the nori shell and topped with citrus soy sauce. I am not sure it gets better than this.

Norigami also has a vegan option for those who choose that lifestyle. The crispy Nori shell was filled with cucumber, carrots, avocado and rice; a healthy and tasty option.

Last but not least, the ever so popular Yeastie Boys Food Truck was the final destination for this remarkable evening.

The kind souls operating the Yeastie Boys truck were fast to recommend The Lox Bagel. Filled with smoked salmon, dill spread, Persian cucumber, sliced radish with caper pesto all on a sesame seed bagel, I was left impressed.

Next up was nightly special, the Birdman, made with sliced turkey, tomato, sprouts, bacon, and cream cheese on a poppy seed bagel.

I would highly recommend stopping by the Yeastie Boys food truck as soon as possible. You won’t want to miss out on the freshest bagels in LA!

Feastown at Eastown Advert

Feastown at Eastown will be held on the first and third Saturday of each month with October 21 being the next event. I would recommend taking the Metro or an Uber if practical to enjoy the astonishing flavors at Feastown at Eastown.
