Elements NYC Music and Art Festival 2018 Returns to Hunts Point
By Lauren Johnson
Hey music lovers! Remember last year’s Elements NYC Music and Art Festival, where Zeds Dead, VOLAC, and Fleetmac Wood owned the stage(s) over two days of revelry at a waterfront location in the Bronx?
This year, the beloved festival returns for its fifth season to New York City for an epic, jam-packed day full of performances by some of the best artists in the electronic dance music industry.
Headlining this year’s show on Saturday, August 11th is none other than the legendary heavy-hitting bass artist Bassnectar. Arguably one of EDM’s biggest stars, Bassnectar will be joined on stage by a diverse group of artists across many genres, including Emancipator, Desert Dwellers, Snakehips, SNBRN, Goldfish, and Justin Jay. There will be four decked-out stages for audience members to experience: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. Each one one will create a fully-immersive experience through large-scale projection mapping, LED sculptures, and, quite literally, smoke (fog) and mirrors. Naturally, each artist will be paired with the elemental stage that best fits their unique style and sound.
Elements is a super interactive festival that gives equal weight to the experience surrounding the music. As such, you can expect climbable structures, an alien garden known as the “Galactic Green House,” numerous art cars including a pirate ship that will be “anchoring” the water stage, and roaming performers including gogo and choreo dancers, stilt walkers, aerialists, fire, and LED performers.
Feeling famished after a day of awesome music? Refuel at one of the many food vendors that will be present at Elements NYC. This year, Elements will be featuring food from some of New York City’s top foodie destinations, and will include such delectable fare as tacos, burgers, Thai, Mediterranean, vegan rolls, lobster rolls and slushies. Trying to stay happy, healthy, and whole? Never to fear – Elements NYC is also proud to present a series of alternate activities such as workshops, bass yoga, sound healing, meditation for those trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.
You absolutely don’t want to miss one of NYC’s most diverse, fun, and eclectic festivals of the summer – so be sure to buy your tickets to see Bassnectar, eat some bomb food, and roam around the interactive fun house that is Hunts Point on August 11.
