DIRT Miami – Fast Farm to Table Winter Menu Review

DIRT Miami – Fast Farm to Table Winter Menu Review

DIRT Miami Beach is a casual fast dining restaurant that focuses on serving vegetable and grain bowls, sandwiches and wraps, and smoothies and cold pressed juices. They embrace the farm to table concept and accommodate to a variety of nutrition restrictions. They serve local and seasonal ingredients which keeps menu ingredients at their freshest and most nutritious. Their menu is organic, gluten-free, paleo, and even vegan friendly!

We had the opportunity to check out DIRT’s winter menu!

Cold Pressed Juices: Root & Transcend

Their smoothies and cold pressed juices are definitely worth a try. We tried two juices, the Root and Transcend.

The Root contains pineapple, ginger, apple, carrot, sweet potato, celery, cinnamon, lime, and turmeric. The Root has a strong carrot undertone. None of the other ingredients make a pronounced appearance but they blend well together. Overall the juice delivers a nice sweetness with hints of the apple and pineapple coming through.

The Transcend contains watermelon, coconut water, beets, lime, vanilla bean, and alkaline water. With the Transcend juice you get predominantly watermelon and beet flavors. Visually and textually you think beets right off the bat. Much like the Root juice, the rest of the elements in the juice are very subtle, nothing overpowers anything else but together blend well.

Dirt Miami - The Winter Plate

The Winter Plate

The DIRT Miami’s winter menu offers one standout dish, the Winter Plate. The overall tone of the dish is that of earthy winter flavors. We chose to go with the Grass-Fed Butcher’s Cut Steak for our protein which added to the already hearty mash. I recommend this as your choice of protein with the winter plate. Healthy food options tend to be on the blander side of meals but DIRT’s winter plate does an excellent job of delivering several layers of flavor and a high quality final product.

The eating experience begins with the eyes, and the presentation of the dish is stellar.  The strong, bold steak flavors stand up well to the earthy flavors in the rest of the dish. The star of the plate though was the Root Vegetable Mash –made with the interesting blend of Celery Root, Carrot, Parsnip and Sweet Potato culminating in a thick and savory yet surprisingly light combination. It doesn’t leave you with the bloated feeling that you get when you eat fatty meals. Not being a huge fan of kale I was not looking forward to its inclusion in the dish, but the cooks at DIRT prepared the kale very well. It complemented well with both the earthy mash and the hearty steak. This plate would be the perfect trade off for the health conscious looking for a satiating cheat meal that is actually super healthy.

If you’re heading over to DIRT Miami this winter, this is my recommendation!

Dirt Miami- The Dirty Steak + Cheese

Dirty Steak + Cheese

The Dirty Steak + Cheese comes in one of two ways – a Paleo friendly Collard Wrap, or as a Sandwich served on Zak The Baker Bread. We opted to go with the higher calorie sandwich version of the dish to get a bit more of the savory aspect going. Definitely curious about trying out the Collard Wrap version though!

The Zak The Baker bread is pretty darn delicious. The crust was strong and hard contrasted with a very soft and airy interior… That soft interior though! The thick slices of bread is the perfect vehicle for this sandwich which is filled with Roasted Peppers, Caramelized Onions, and local Tomatoes.

I also had the opportunity to sample the Quinoa-crusted Day Boat Fish, which is another protein option that I can wholeheartedly recommend. The fish was fresh flaky and full of flavor, it’s not your typical flavorless white fish. The quinoa crust delivers a crispy exterior that adds excellent texture to the fish.

As with their entire menu of salads, bowls and wraps, you can add your choice of protein. I also love their inclusion of calories and nutrition facts on ALL of their menu items. DIRT is making it much much easier to choose healthy tasty foods in Miami!
