Decadence NYE – Top 11 acts in the City of Dreams
As we approach the end of 2016, reflection on the year passed is unavoidable. We started with the deaths of two musical icons, we end with an unsure future for our country. I think it’s pretty safe to say we could all use an escape from reality, some larger then life beats, and a dance floor to dominate with thousands of friends. Thanks to the amazing people at Global Dance and AEG live, this NYE Denver, Colorado will be home to the best electronic line up in the country. Decadence NYE is going to be the feeliest, bass filled rage station any headbanger could ask for. GRIZ, Bassnectar, Mello, Snails, Flume… the line up is non-stop amazingness. I am ready to write off this ridiculous year and party ’til my face melts. Can’t wait to meet all you beautiful people in the City of Dreams!!!
So this is a tough one for me, how do I choose only 11 when the entire roster is unreal!? The sounds will be celestial from start to finish, so I just gotta go with what moves my feet on this one. Here’s my Top 11 acts to ring in the new year and toast to new beginnings, cheers.
Top 11 Acts to Catch at Decadence NYE 2016
GRIZ – The saxophone master has had an exceptional year. Following 2015’s monumental release of Say It Loud, his Good Will Prevail tour sold out every venue it booked. If you have ever been to a GRIZ show then you understand why he takes the number one spot. This collaborative genius always brings the best for his live shows, Decadence NYE will be no different. The studio albums are amazing, but his freestyled live sets are unforgettable and full of “member berries” This one should top all the lists of sets to not miss.
Marshmello – No matter who the man in the Mello is, you can’t deny the year this artist has had. Headline gigs all over the world, while Deadmau5 does his best to troll our man on Twitter. If haters are our motivators, Mello has enough motivation to keep the tracks coming. Missing him this summer at Red Rocks has stuck with me, this is the set I plan on dancing too until something breaks. Yeah, I like to KeEp IT MeLLo, you should too.
Snails – Looking for some bass to go with your need for trappy ass beats? Snails has you covered. This beyond creative artist comes out with a style all his own. Whether you want to headbang or actually dance, this is one we can all bounce together too. Currently making his way through the US on tour. Snails will make Decadence NYE a wild Bass filled experience for all.
Tiesto – If you haven’t seen this superstar live, you are in for a treat. This Dutch mastermind has been matching beats long before there was software to do it for you. Constantly breaking new ground since his first album release in the 90’s, this will be a memorable set for all. Tiesto will be the only Grammy winner to grace the Decadence NYE stage. He is also the first DJ to ever open up the Olympics, forging the path for others to follow. Those alone are huge deals, making this man a true Electronic music pioneer. I have a strong feeling Tiesto’s sounds will be the first we’ll be hearing in 2017. Get ready for an epic adventure as Tiesto hopefully spins us into the new year.
Zeds Dead – I have had the privilege of seeing these crazy Canadians at multiple venues across the country. 2014 they turned out the Mythical Frames stage at the forever missed Tomorrowworld music festival. Then I shot a two day small intimate event at Atlanta’s Terminal West. Completely different shows with one thing in common, both totally mind blowing. Dylan and Zach partner together like peanut butter and jelly. They can go hard and dark, or high energy to please any crowd. You never know what you’re going to experience with Zeds Dead, you just know it will touch you in the feels. Get there, grab a friend and dance til you Collapse.
Bassnectar – If you haven’t seen Lorin yet that means two things, you’re new to this world and this is your first Decadence NYE. Either way, welcome to the party and bring ear protection. A true pioneer with a style all his own and the hardest touring DJ in electronic music. This will be the bassiest experience of your life. I have witnessed this mad scientist musician over a dozen times. Red Rocks, TomorrowWorld, Decadence NYE 2015, 360 in Tennessee… you get the point. Each one had the most impressive visuals anyone could expect and enough decibels to blow your eardrums. For you Railriders, Headbangers and Bassheads, wash your harem pants, be respectful of others trying to enjoy the show and use the restrooms like normal humans.
Big Wild – Jackson Stell is the genius behind Big Wild. An insanely talented musician that uses percussions and unique instrumental sounds to create a sound all his own. This is the reason he was added to the already stacked roster in the Foreign Family Collective. Was able to catch his live show twice this summer in Colorado at Red Rocks and Vertex, so making it a 3rd is a no brainer. When Odesza loves your sound and signs you to their label, you must be amazing. If you haven’t caught this musical adventure yet, plan accordingly and get to the front. The good vibes will be endless for all in attendance.
Adventure Club – This is one of the names that just explains what you will get when see these proud Canadians live. First time seeing Adventure Club live was a legit adventure as they tore up the mainstage at the first Imagine Music fest. Second was even better when they had hundreds of thousands of us feeling at Tomorrowworld 2015. Both amazing shows, both completely different energies. Now I get to experience in my home town in the City of Dreams. #don’tmiss
RL Grime vs. Baauer – For those who can’t get those dark nasty trap beats out of their ear holes, Decadence NYE has you covered. Henry Steinway (RL) and Harry Rodrigues (BAAUER) team up for a bass heavy performance that is sure to bring out the dirty side out in all of us. I have witnessed RL Grime a couple times and this man doesn’t disappoint. With the addition of BAAUER I can only imagine how they will feed off each other to treat the Denver crowd to a mind blowing whomp stomping experience.
Keys n Krates – Jr. Flo, Matisse and Adam Tune are the trio who make up Keys n Krates. From their start in 2008, these three badass humans have graced the mainstage at dozens of major events. Every time I have seen them it’s a new, evolved show. I expect their Friday night set to be one of the most memorable of the weekend.
Michael Brun – So I gotta be honest here, I hadn’t heard Michael Brun before the line up announcement last week. Michael responded to a couple people on the Decadence NYE Facebook page stating “I know a lot of you are gonna be seeing me for the first time and I’m super hyped to show you what I’m about. See you then!” Well I am in that group and happy to give him the chance! After listening to Jupiter I’m into it. So In the immortal words from the giant head in the sky “Show me what you gooootttttt“
We are a week away from the best way to end this crazy year. I know I’m ready to shake it off and get the new year started right. Can’t wait to see all you sexy people on the biggest dance floor in the west. If you’re one of those late bloomers who hasn’t figured out plans for NYE, hope you found one on this list. Everyone else, see you in the City of Dreams, Decadence NYE 2016. Cheers
