Creamistry – Southern California’s most innovative Ice Cream shop is changing the game.
By Juliann Fritz
With so many options for ice cream, how do you find a place that makes a quality product? Creamistry, Southern California’s newest Ice Creamery is solving that problem for ice cream lovers. They handcraft their ice cream fresh when you order it, using premium flavors, mix-ins, and toppings. Creamistry makes their quality product using nitrogen, something interesting that sets them apart in the ice cream business. All of their ingredients are always fresh and the favors are unique and decadent. Pair that with exceptional customer service and you have a model that is going to turn the ice cream world upside down.
These are the machines that are used to make the handcrafted ice cream. It starts with a base, and Creamistry offers four different bases to suit your taste preferences. They offer dairy and non-dairy options as the starting point for their ice cream. Their signature premium base is by far the creamiest and most decadent, you can also choose a non-GMO organic base for your handcrafted creation. If you want to go nondairy, they offer a sorbet and a coconut base. Once you have chosen the base, customers have a plethora of options to choose from in terms of flavors and toppings. The flavors are mixed in with the base and this mixture is rapidly frozen using liquid nitrogen. The nitrogen is so cold (-321 degrees) that it causes the milk particles to stay so tiny it creates a thick, smooth and creamy product.
Cookies and Cream is one the top flavors at Creamistry. I decided to add a brownie to it for that extra chocolate fix. Creamistry offer a brownie or waffle cone option to enhance your handcrafted dessert. I added sprinkles for aesthetics and extra crunch. The secret is that the cookies are added to the ice cream after it is rapidly frozen, and this maintains the crunchiness. Don’t you hate it when you are eating Cookies and Cream and the cookie chunks are soggy or essentially non-existent? At Creamistry, the cookies are incredibly fresh and crunchy. This treat is overloaded with cookies, exactly the way I like it.
The Nitro Dole Pineapple Sorbet is topped with fresh strawberries. It uses a sorbet base and real Dole pineapple. The strawberries add a burst of color that just screams refreshing. The sorbet tastes exactly like real pineapple. It is smooth and creamy unlike some sorbet where the primary texture is just icy. The strawberries add even more sweetness and when you eat it all together, it’s a creamy tropical explosion.
I wanted to try something out of the ordinary, an ice cream flavor I have never tasted nor thought was even possible. Come to find out, Creamistry specializes in creating unique ice cream flavors one can only dream of. The Black Sesame is made with real black sesame, premium and always fresh. This is a before and after, the top picture being what the Black Sesame looks like without toppings. I threw some red bean and mochi on top as recommended. The Black Sesame has a salty sweetness to it and a light flavor that won’t overload you with sweetness if that’s not your thing. The mochi and red bean compliment it perfectly.
Salted Caramel, simple to look at but do not underestimate it. I decided to try it without toppings since salted caramel is usually enough in itself. This ice cream is so thick and creamy it is reminiscent of eating cake batter, it is almost too thick to be considered ice cream. I am not one to shy away from adding a variety of sweet toppings but with this one you have to trust me that it is perfectly delicious on its own.
I got excited when I saw Chocolate Hazelnut on the menu. I became even more excited when I found out they create this flavor using real Nutella sauce. This cup of frozen goodness tastes just like Nutella. Sliced almonds add an additional nutty flavor to the ice cream. Creamistry raised the bar once again with this scoop of decadence. Nutella lovers, this one is for you.
Another top seller is the Matcha Green Tea, made with real matcha green tea and topped with Mochi. This green tea ice cream is refreshing and the matcha makes it absolutely uncompromising. You can really taste the green tea; making it a light yet flavorful dessert. Top it with mochi to add more body to your nitrogen frozen dessert.
In addition to cups of ice cream, Creamistry offers signature Creations, larger portions of ice cream served in a cup, topped with various premium ingredients. This is the Captain’s Breakfast. It comes packed with Captain Crunch ice cream, fresh strawberries, bananas and chocolate sauce. This sauce is made with real Nutella. This creation is a dream come true in a cup. There are real captain crunch bits in the ice cream, which is absolute genius. Cereal has always been a dessert for me and I love the fact that Creamistry took this to the next level. Did I mention chocolate sauce made with Nutella? Captain’s Breakfast will blow your mind.
