Cleo South Beach – A Mediterranean Jewel
I have been hearing nothing, but raves about Cleo South Beach so it was time to test out this new South Beach sensual venue.
Cleo South Beach is a swanky Mediterranean spot in the Redbury hotel that truly lives up to its reputation. It is a large venue that seduces you upon entry with lit candelabras, sexy modern depictions of Cleopatra, beautiful china and a talented waitstaff.
Cleo South Beach is a tapas style joint so be prepared to share and sometimes experience tiny plates. I shall walk you through the highlights.
Start with the hot Laffah, a soft pillowy type of bread usually employed with shawarma. They pair it with an exotic creamy zatar dip that will be a new gratifying experience for you mouth. There are tons of other dip options available from chummus, tahini, eggplant…
Follow that with these heavenly sweet Mushrooms (pictured here on the pizza, but mine was just plain) – seasonal mushrooms, dates, hazelnuts and puffed wild rice. It is a stellar combination of sweet, salty and textures.
Next up is the supple fall off the bone Lamb that is a nice sized portion and so darn good. It is paired with a spicy sauce that is great, but not even required.
The final and favorite dish of the night at Cleo South Beach is a perfect rendition of Grilled Branzino with cauliflower, couscous and drained yogurt. It was creamy, fruity and savory when combined with the sauce and rice embedded under it. Writing this article from Asia I have an intense hankering for it. All of these dishes were the best of what I order, but this one stands tall above the other gems.
Cleo South Beach is a marvelous addition to the Miami dining scene. It is a superb date spot, great for families that love to share dishes, Mediterranean lovers or anybody that appreciates excellent cuisine.
