Boys Noize Miami Concert Review

After years of successful shows and creating a fan base with dedicated techno heads, Boys Noize took his North American tour to Downtown Miami’s street that never sleeps. Hosted by Heart Nightclub and presented by Culture Productions, Electric Love, and Poplife, the show took place on Thursday, October 13th with GILA as the opening set. After the announcement of his new album, Mayday, fans have been raving and we were excited to see what the talented artist had in store for his Miami fans.

Boys Noize is extremely passionate about his Mayday album, the collaboration with Oliver Stone for the movie Snowden, which is out now and featuring Hudson Mohawke, Polica, Remy Banks, Spank Rock, Benga, and more! After a few sold out shows, he makes his way down to Miami. The night began with GILA, a Denver based DJ with a background in hip-hop as half of the duo, Gorgeous Children. Taking electronic music from his past musical experience, he was honored to be the opening act for Boys Noize at four of the 11 North American tour shows this year. His hip-hop background was noticeable from the beginning, spinning tracks with a thumping bass. Aside from being slightly repetitive, the set kept up everyone’s energy and by 1:30am, the man of the show had arrived to the DJ booth.

The acid-punk electronic DJ and producer continued with GILA’s hip-hop vibe but immediately turned it up a notch with that distinctive and hard electro sound we expect and love. The crowd was recharged and at this point the dance floor had filled out completely. Fans were getting up close to the DJ booth with arms in the air as he played his charted track, Euphoria featuring Remy Banks. We got to hear Mayday’s hit, “Birthday” with voices by Danny Brown and Pell added to the track as well. It was a celebration for the Berlin-based artist’s release and everyone in the room was sharing his blend of hard techno with an electro bass line, all while keeping the hip-hop alive. The entire show at Heart had a hip-hop influence and set the mood for his fans. The few people who were there were at least having a blast. Contagious dancing, intense hair flips, and that intimate setting made this event particularly different but in a good way.

After a night of bright lights and warm fans, GILA shared his appreciation in Miami after Boys Noize’s set:

“Miami was so fire, thanks to everyone who pulled up.
The real treat of this tour though is seeing a master crush it every night. Props forever to Alex for this opportunity to not only do my thang but learn in the process.”

Boys Noize continues to make his way through the states and Canada for the next couple weeks. Miami’s stop was exactly in the center of his tour, but the tour will soon end next Friday, November 4th in Denver, CO at Beta Nightclub with Sister City warming up the decks.

Tickets are still on sale for his final show, here. Catch him while you can!
