Bocas Grill Brickell Privee Event
The notorious Bocas Grill restaurant, known for its decadent and not-so-small milkshakes, has blessed yet another part of South Florida by opening a brand new location in Brickell. I was lucky enough to have attended their Privee event, which included complimentary drinks and bites. We had the pleasure of meeting the mastermind behind the delicious milkshakes as well! It was a great event, ending with a little goodie bag of Bocas-themed goods for each guest. Currently wishing I had some tequenos in my hand right now!
The event started off with drinks and cocktails. With a variety of options, which included red or white sangria, white or red wine, or a specially-themed cocktail for the Bocas Grill event, I naturally went with my favorite… red wine. My guest decided to try the special cocktail which did not disappoint. My wine was smooth and perfect for pairing with the bites offered. The specially crafted cocktail was fresh and light. A bit sour, but that complemented the rim of sugar surrounding the cocktail glass perfectly. Besides the amazing taste, Bocas Grill never disappoints with presentation. The cocktail came beautifully decorated with a sugar rim that was mixed with lime shavings, and finally topped with a slice of dehydrated lime.
Next up was the food! The waiters brought a huge tray of Venezuelan empanadas and tequenos. In the middle was a garlic aioli. I have to say the tequenos were my favorite! Super cheesy on the inside and bursting with flavor… literally! Add the aioli and BAM! even better. I could’ve eaten the whole tray if it weren’t for the other people at the table. The empanadas were filled with pulled chicken and were just as tasty. Perfect little finger food. Perfect appetizers.
You can’t go to Bocas Grill without trying their arepas, am I right?! I was lucky enough to try two different flavors of their arepas. These included cheese and pulled chicken. My favorite was the cheese arepa, very understated but absolutely delicious. Lets not forget about that little garlic aioli sauce, which heightened the arepas flavor even more!
The best thing about Bocas Grill is their mix with different Latin countries. Being Peruvian myself, I greatly appreciated this next dish: Lomo saltado and a mountain of cheese topped onto tostones. This was probably my favorite dish of the whole night. The lomo was tender and super juicy. Full of flavor, which is what lomo saltado is known for. The tostones were salty and crunchy, a great contrast to the tender and chewy lomo. Overall, this dish was a hit and apparently one of the most ordered items from the Bocas Grill menu. I can see why.
Now for the famous milkshakes! No trip to Bocas Grill is complete without having one of these amazing shakes. I got to try the chocolate churro milkshake. These babies are definitely meant to be shared. This one was made with a vanilla base, and topped with chocolate churro circles, vanilla ice cream, fudge, crushed chocolate cream cookies, and whipped cream. It was amazing to say the least. The perfect end after eating so many salty bites.
The Bocas Grill Privee event was a hit! The menu was fantastic and the venue was spectacular. I cannot wait to visit again and try the other items from their menu!
