Alhambra Reserva 1925 Cerveza – Spanish Craft Beer Review
Alhambra Reserva 1925 Cerveza has arrived at Miami’s dining and drinking establishments just in time to quench thirsts as another hot summer approaches the Magic City. I enjoy my wine and cocktails, but in 90 degree weather, there’s nothing as refreshing as ice cold beer. In my opinion, beer pairs better with summer meals, from barbeques to beach picnics to outdoor dining, than my favorite champagne.
If you are going to drink a cold one, how about keeping it cool with smiles? Amazon has an adorable set of Funny Coozies:
Since the artisanal brewery from Granada, Spain began an internationalization of their signature brew, Reserva 1925, the extra lager beer’s distinctive wood-cut style lion’s head beer tap handle as well as their label-free green glass bottles have been popping everywhere throughout greater South Florida.
My virgin sampling arrived via the post from the 100% family-owned Spanish company, Cervezas Alhambra, -two bottles of Alhambra Reserva 1925 and two Alhambra Reserva 1925 tulip glasses inside a rustic wooden case.
Preferring to drink beer American-style, cold, I first chilled the beer before pouring into the tall bulbous vessel, whose flared shape supports a healthy head and the narrow waist helps hold in the bouquet. The footed stem is easily gripped and useful in swirling the glass to release more aromas. You are now getting the idea that beer has qualities similar to wine.
The lager is clear golden amber in color, and pours a lovely head of fluffy white foam that holds quite well and leaves nice lacing about the glass. To the nose, I got lightly toasted malt, and, to the palate, balanced spicy grass and sweet floral flavors. The Spanish the lager has an ever so mildly bitter finish.
Overall, Alhambra Reserva 1925 is light-bodied extra lager, and very drinkable with a great frothy head that will complement nicely with summertime fare; (6.4% ABV).
Alhambra Reserva 1925 can be found at your favorite Miami area establishments, such as 100 Montaditos, Barceloneta, Bulla, Casa Panza Café, Dolores/Lolita, Klima, Novecento, Piripi, Tapas & Tintos, The Butchers Shop, The Fish House, The Local Craft, World Of Beer, Xixon, and more.
