222 Taco Introduces New Boozy Brunch to North Bay Village

Just from the huge 222 TACO sign you can’t miss coming down the causeway, the restaurant stands out and invites you in. Coming into the busy Mexican eatery for the launch of their new brunch kicking off this summer, I was taken back by how culturally magnificent it was. Spearheaded by hospitality maverick, Anna Robbins, 222 TACO has debuted an authentic, Mexican brunch experience, set amidst a lively hangout in North Bay Village. With anticipation, we were welcomed to a cozy and colorful taco heaven that gave us the feeling of being at a fiesta yet reminded us of home.
As guests enter through the main restaurant and bar, the casual dining experience stays true with orders taken at the counter. However, don’t let the ordering process fool you, 222 TACO has a fully stacked menu with all the mouth-watering favorites. Some classics you’ll find are the Aguacate Toast, topped with smashed Haas avocado, guacamole spread, tajin, and toasted bolillo, Huevos Rancheros with 2 fried eggs on a tortilla bed complete with black beans, salsa ranchera, and queso, and for those who prefer sweet over savory, the Mexican French Toast is sure to satisfy, served as Pan de Concha topped with cinnamon and crema -yuummm.
So, what to eat?
After carefully deliberating the entire menu and coming to our decision, we wanted to have a full brunch experience. Breakfast Taco was a must, made with traditional corn tortilla, scrambled eggs, and queso with your choice of bacon, chorizo, or raja con papas. We also tried their new Bacon Avocado Toast which was a new brunch addition featuring the added bacon. Breakfast Fries were perfectly crispy French fries topped with chorizo, guacamole, Fresno pepper, and a sunny-side-up huevo to seal the deal. last but not least, I don’t leave a Mexican spot without having Elote (because, duh!), which to my delight, was roasted perfectly and topped with just the right amount of spices and cotija cheese.
It’s not brunch without booze!
As we waiting for our food, we also ordered a round of drinks from the bar. As a die-hard Bloody Mary girl, I had to taste that Chipotle Bloody Maria on the menu, which interestingly enough is made with tequila and mixed with sangrita, chipotle, and lime to make the perfect Mexican twist on a traditional classic. We also had their Strawberry Mimosa, delicious, refreshing, and the perfect pair with brunch made with champagne and strawberry orange juice. While we enjoyed sipping our drinks, we noticed the FIFA World Cup tuned in as they made sure to coordinate the coming of their new brunch launch with the soccer matches. They upgraded their TV systems and integrated surround sound, for an ultimate high definition game day experience. This place honestly makes for a perfect game-watching venue for any sporting event all year-round let alone a great spot to hang any day.
As we thoroughly enjoyed, not only was the food delicious, but the service was excellent as well. I enjoyed the crafty drinks and the entire atmosphere of the restaurant made me want to stay all day. Between their vast salsa bar, the bustling kitchen, and all the cute merchandise for display and for sale, it was a truly a unique dining experience. I look forward to coming back again, especially since brunch will be available on Saturdays AND Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm!
