Geneva Trail at Xtreme Action Park Provides Family Fun

Geneva Trail at Xtreme Action Park Provides Family Fun

Four of us were huddled in a dingy, dark cabin. Once quaint and charming, the abandoned home became a location of despair, devastation and death.

Alas, the location of this murder mystery was not in the middle of the woods, nor was it a case reenactment on Dateline. It was one of Xtreme Action Park’s escape room dubbed “Geneva Trail”.

In this particular scenario, hikers discover the corpse of Mr. Viktor Shelly in a forest. His former job, Evolution Industries, wants legal rights to every piece of his property. Unfortunately, the police want to fulfill this as opposed to solving the case. Participants must use the clues found in his cabin and escape within an hour.

Needless to say, my mother, stepdad, brother’s girlfriend and I did not get out under 60 minutes. In fact, we went over time by about 15-20 minutes. But after countless clues, dozens of “Natalya, you’ve done this before- what comes next?”s, and lots of laughs, we made it out.

This escape room is Xtreme Action Park’s most difficult, with its online rating of 9/10. But that is not to deter any potential mystery solvers; the special effects, imaginative decor and mind boggling puzzles make a visit to this room worthwhile.

Other escape rooms available include Dine in at Dusk, about an 18 year old diner waitress gone missing and Two Thirty Nine, a room enclosed in complete darkness with the exception of a digital clock. All three escape rooms cost $36 to participate and require 3-6 or 3-10 participants, depending on the room. Level of difficulty and intensity vary with each scenario.

Xtreme Action Park is currently the largest indoor entertainment venue in the sunny state of Florida. At more than 200,000 square feet, the attraction center holds a rope course, miniature bowling alley, arcade games, glow-in-the-dark bazooka blast, roller skating rink, go karts, trampoline park, auto museum and more. There are plenty of refreshment options, including the All American Café and Hershey’s Ice Cream Shake Shoppe.

Xtreme Action Park is located at 5300 Powerline Rd. in Fort Lauderdale. It is open on Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. as well as Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until midnight. On Sundays, the park is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Call (954) 491-6265 or visit xtremeactionpark.com.
