UFO Restaurant Review, Bratislava Slovakia

Thankfully there are no shortage of amazing restaurants to choose from when trekking across the globe. In an effort to whittle down my choices, I like to find unique spots that offer up more than just incredible food. During a short two day stint in Bratislava, Slovakia I found a majestic spot called UFO Restaurant. UFO is perched on the North side of the New Bridge and ironically looks like a UFO (unidentified flying object) that towers high above the city. UFO has created a very sexy ambiance with enchanting panoramic views of the city, fine cuisine and a meticulous and accommodating waitstaff.

I chose to dine an hour before sunset so I could take in the daytime view, sunset and the lit up night time skyline. The roof of the restaurant is an observation deck and is worth going up to before you sit down to eat or drink. I ordered the Winter seven course Degustation de la Maison (tasting menu) and was quite pleased. The dishes were creative and the paired wines were incredible. Two of the dishes really stood out.

The Rack of Venison had me salivating upon arrival with its intoxicating scent. The dish employed a caramelized Lotus root that was an a unique new flavor I adored. Lotus root has a creamy yet starchy texture and it was caramelized to perfection. When the juicy rare venison, cabbage jam and lotus root were combined it was culinary poetry.

The Sturgeon Witt came with creamy leek and a crispy yet light potato that entwined into into a magnificent plate. I could drench that creamy leek on anything and be a happy boy.

UFO Restaurant was an incredible experience that all foodies visiting Bratislava need to experience. The magnificent views, attentive waitstaff, sultry energy and good food and wine make this a memorable experience.
