Treat House —Crispy Rice Desserts With a Whimsical Twist

By Samantha Dockser

Treat House sells delicious and whimsical crisp rice cereal treats by putting a new spin on a childhood favorite. Based out of New York but shipping nation wide, these treats will make you feel like a kid again. They are the sweet gift you need to show your special someone how young they make you feel this Valentine’s season.

Treat House

Treat House is a family business with an adorable origin story. In 2011, the Russell family held a bake sale for charity. Chris Russell, being a passionate chef, decided to help his sons by creating treats out of crisp rice cereal and marshmallows. They created three fun flavors, and as a family, set up shop on the corner with a good old fashioned bake sale. The treats flew off the bake sale shelf; people couldn’t get enough.

A few weeks later, Chris and his wife, Jennifer, realized they were the only people with this product. They contacted pastry chef Wendy Israel, and with her on board, the idea for Treat House began to grow. Over two years, they developed their product, and they opened their first shop on the West Side of Manhattan in 2013. Now they have two more stores—one on the Upper East Side and one in New Jersey. Their fourth store will open in the new World Trade Center later this year.

They have 12 basic flavors that change seasonally with up to 18 for different holidays. They are aligned with the Super Bowl so look out for Panthers and Broncos treats. They have also catered the premieres for several blockbuster movies, like The Hunger Games and Star Wars!

Chris explains that his favorite flavor depends on the day. It is a toss up between Caramel Sea Salt, Chocolate Hazelnut, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and Peanut Brittle. His kids share their father’s love of the Caramel Sea Salt, and they also love Chocolate Mint, Chocolate Cookie, and Marshmallow. See below for an assortment of fun flavors.
